Sydni Signore

Top 10

PARENTS: Nicole Fondacaro and Stephen Signore

COLLEGE OR OTHER PLANS: Binghamton University, major in biology

AFTER COLLEGE: Graduate school then pursuing a career in medical/dental field

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST PART OF THE LAST YEAR OF SCHOOL and THE MOST REWARDING: The hardest part has been adjusting to what is our new reality, masks in school, not being able to see our friends every day, and not having some of the senior events that we had waited for all those years. What was most rewarding was graduating and realizing that we were the first group of students to learn in a whole new way and still persevere no matter the challenges thrown at us, definitely bragging rights that will go on for years ahead.

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF DURING THE PANDEMIC/HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED: I have learned how resilient but also how vulnerable I can be. I discovered new strengths and weaknesses that I never knew I had. I also learned more about my role as an individual and how what I do contributes to a much larger group, which encouraged my desire to go into the medical field and help people and the world as a whole.

WHAT IS THE MEMORY OF SCHOOL YOU WILL NEVER FORGET/WHAT WILL YOU MISS MOST ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL: The memory I will never forget was when I was a JV cheerleader one of my first years of cheer and the football team won the JV Super Bowl. That was one of the most exciting events I had ever attended and got to be a part of while in high school. The energy was amazing. What I will miss however, is all the people who will forever leave an impact on my life. There are a handful of teachers and staff that I met in this school whose lessons, and presence will live in my heart forever.

WHAT’S IN YOUR MUSIC PLAYER: ’60s music but also anything by J. Cole (his new album “The Off Season”)

FAVORITE BOOK OR AUTHOR: “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom

BEST PART ABOUT GRADUATING: Being able to go off into the world and start working towards pursuing my life goals.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU: My boss, Dr. Mike DeLuke, inspires me. He is one of the most hardworking and organized individuals I have ever met. He has built an amazing dental practice/company for himself and has literally changed the lives of hundreds of people as their orthodontist. I hope to someday be as successful as him and change people’s lives as he does every day.
