Rotterdam town officials are urging residents to pay their tax bills using only the website printed on the bills or via the town’s website after it discovered that a third-party vendor has been submitting residents’ payments to the town after their due dates.

According to a press release issued by the town on Wednesday, while third-party vendor DOXO.com has been posing as a bill-paying service for the town and charging people for those services, the website’s processing timeframe fails to submit those payments to the town in a timely fashion.

“As the town works to rectify the misleading claims of this vendor, we urge all town residents to ONLY use specified payment services found on our official town website,” said Supervisor Steven Tommasone. “We are committed to providing our community reliable and honest services and will continue to work with the town to eliminate any falsehoods.”

According to the release residents can pay their town property tax and water bills on the town’s website at www.rotterdamny.org by clicking the “Pay Taxes Online” tab. However, those instructions do not actually work. Residents should visit www.totalcollectionsolution.com and once there enter the user name “[email protected]” and password “public.”

If anyone has used or knows someone who has used DOXO.com they should call the town immediately at 518-355-7575 ext. 392 or email Diane Martin, the receiver of taxes, at [email protected].

Interesting, So the Town doesn’t actually refuse payments from a third party vendor?

Rotterdam town officials are urging residents to pay their tax bills using only the website printed on the bills or via the town’s website after it discovered that a third-party vendor has been submitting residents’ payments to the town after their due dates.

The E-Check payment processing fee is $1.75
The Credit Card payment processing fee is 2.7% calculated on the total payment due
*These fees are third -party processing fees; the Town of Rotterdam collects no fees. while third-party vendor DOXO.com has been posing as a bill pay service

I wonder how this might apply?
Later, Mr. Bianchi attempted to pay back taxes on another property which was in the name of another family member. After submitting the payment in full to American Tax Funding. ATF returned the payment and indicated that they had been directed by the City of Schenectady to return same as Mr. Bianchi was not the proper payer. This was done despite the fact that the City frequently takes payments from other entities for tax payments. It was clear that the City simply wished to seize the property for back taxes, and even the representative of ATF stated they had never seen that situation before.
