Ballston Spa man dies in boating accident on Saratoga Lake

SARATOGA COUNTY — A 20-year-old Ballston Spa man died on Saratoga Lake Sunday in a boating accident that is currently under investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department.

Ian Gerber, 20, of Ballston Spa, was found dead Sunday by sheriff’s deputies due to injuries received in the boating accident, the  Sheriff’s Department stated in a press release.

The initial call to the department reported a male had been seriously injured in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation. Investigators were observed on the scene Monday.

No further details regarding the accident will be released until Tuesday, the release states.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Malta Ridge Volunteer Fire Company, state police and Malta-Stillwater EMS.
