LOUDONVILLE — The Siena men’s basketball program announced Thursday the addition of Jonathan Pickett, a Mechanicville High School graduate, as the Saints’ new special assistant to head coach Carmen Maciariello.

“I’m excited to welcome Jonathan Pickett to our Siena basketball family,” Maciariello said in a statement issued through the school’s athletic department. “He is a tireless worker with deep roots in the Capital Region community. Jonathan is constantly trying to do all he can to help our program improve on a daily basis.”

A Mechanicville native, Pickett graduated from UAlbany in 2020. At UAlbany, Pickett spent seasons working with both the men’s and women’s basketball programs. Among a variety of roles with the Great Danes’ programs, Pickett served as a student manager, assistant to the video coordinator and, most recently, spent last season as the director of analytics for the Great Danes’ men’s program.

“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to stay home and continue to grow in my career under coach Maciariello,” Pickett said. “Siena basketball holds a special place in the Capital Region, and I’m honored to join such a storied program.”

Siena’s special-assistant role was open after the promotion of Matt Miner, a Shenendehowa graduate, to the position of director of basketball operations.
