The department responded to a call on Curry Road where a man had threatened someone with a knife at their shared residence, according to police.

The victim told police the man had entered the house and was impaired from drugs. Police blocked off Curry Road midday between Pinelawn and Parklawn avenues to establish a perimeter and for safety purposes, they reported. Multiple attempts were made to contact the suspect and summon him outside. After hours of no response, the Police Department located Aaron Merrit, 32, inside the home and took him into custody, police reported.

Merrit was charged with menacing, a misdemeanor, and was sent to Schenectady County Jail. The Schenectady County Drone Unit provided surveillance support to the Rotterdam Police Department.
