MOREAU – A Monday night traffic stop on Interstate 87 in Moreau led to the discovery of an illegally possessed gun and the arrest of a man from Florida, state police said.

Jai’Anthony Holley, 20, of Lake City, Fla., was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony.

Troopers stopped Holley on Interstate 87 for a traffic infraction. During the stop, troopers discovered Holley had a 9mm handgun and a loaded magazine in his trunk. Holley did not have a permit for the firearm, troopers said.

Holley was processed and released to return to court later.

State police also highlighted the arrest on Twitter Tuesday.
