ALBANY – An Amsterdam man admitted Thursday to possessing and distributing child pornography, U.S. Attorney’s officials said.
Cameron Hennelly, 30, of Amsterdam, appeared in U.S. District Court and pleaded guilty to one count each of possession and distribution, officials said.
He admitted that he used a social media application on his phone to send a graphic image of child pornography to another individual over the internet. A search of his phone then revealed he also possessed other images and videos depicting child pornography, officials said.
Hennelly is to be sentenced in December. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison, officials said.
The case was investigated by the FBI and its Child Exploitation Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rachel Williams is prosecuting.
