The driver killed was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers did not immediately release the person’s name, pending notification of next of kin.

The crash happened at about 4:20 p.m. on the exit ramp to Exit 21A, the I-90 Berkshire Connector in the town of Coeymans, state police said.

The investigation showed that a car stopped in the exit lane for an unknown reason and a pickup truck then slammed into the back of it, state police said.

The driver of the truck, identified as Geraldine V. Sprague, 21, of Montgomery, Orange County, was taken to Albany Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

The crash remained under investigation Monday.
