Police described the injuries to at least two of the individuals as life-threatening.

The crash happened at about 4:50 p.m. on the I-90 entrance lane of Exit 27 at Amsterdam, troopers said.

A preliminary investigation determined that a passenger car struck a minivan head on. At least two people suffered life-threatening injuries, while three others were also transported to the hospital with injuries, troopers said.

The entry ramp onto I-90 remained closed into the evening for accident reconstruction, troopers said.

Traffic was being diverted to Route 5S, causing major delays on Route 30, state police said.
