Police: July Schenectady shooting leads to Albany man’s arrest

SCHENECTADY – An Albany man has been arrested, accused of firing at someone last month in Schenectady, authorities said.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Aasim J. Hilts, 26, of Park Avenue, Albany, was arrested recently and charged with one count each of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment, felonies.

Hilts is accused of possessing a loaded firearm just after midnight July 5 in the area of 800 Lincoln Ave. and firing it at another person on the sidewalk, according to police allegations filed in court.

The person on the sidewalk was not injured, according to the allegations.
