Stefanik benefitting from fealty to Trump

So, Elise Stefanik is doing a wonderful job holding Andrew Cuomo accountable for his actions; not so much in holding the disgraced, twice-impeached former president accountable for his actions.
But then, as a Republican she obviously sees the writing on the wall. Being a Trump toadie is essential for advancement in the new GOP caucus led by the likes of Kevin McCarthy. Since I do not live in the 21st District, my opinion of Stefanik hardly matters, until, of course, she decides to make her own run for the White House.

Dems, media ignore Dems’ malfeasance

The Aug. 5 political cartoon depicting Cuomo with Gaetz, and Trump with a GOP mascot shows this paper believes that there are no Democratic sexual deviants. However, this cartoon is lacking a few people: i.e. Democrat Bill Clinton who defiled the Oval Office with his sexual antics.
And no mention of the Kennedy brothers, John and Ted either.
It’s easy to forget these and many other Democrats and their behavior, especially when it’s your job to bash the Republicans.
If Mr. Cuomo was a Republican, he would’ve been driven out of office months ago by the Democrats and the media.
Mary Ann Brown

Schenectady should offer free internet

Our vital network of roads and bridges is called infrastructure.
We collectively fund it via taxes. It works better than a patchwork of fee collecting.
The internet with many expanding purposes has become a vital part of a global infrastructure. It is supported by a patchwork of user fees and locally funded hot-spots.
A technologically doable possibility is free internet access for all persons on our planet. The cost and environmental damage would be much lower than existing roads and bridges.
Global actions start locally.
Schenectady pioneered much of the internet-dependent technology, including electric power, radio and television. Dr. Charles Steinmetz was famous as the Electric Wizard of Schenectady and Union College. He also cared about people. He served as president of the City Council and school board. He championed free books for all students.
School children have been terribly handicapped by closed schools during the pandemic. Remote learning has been impossible for many without the internet.
Wikipedia provides a wealth of knowledge for people with every interest. Videos show how to do things. They provide amazing documentaries and wonderful music. The user gets to select and pick a convenient time.
Schenectady can do quality-of-life-improving leadership with free internet for all. It can best be done by extending library services. Branches now provide access during the limited open hours.
It could and should be 24 hours a day to all parts of Schenectady County.

Frank Wicks Why should taxpayers pay for your internet? And when schools shut down Spectrum gave people free internet if they showed they had a school aged child. Facts matter. Liberals are always looking for handouts and liberal politicians are always putting us further in debt to give them it.

What? 45 inherited a growing economy and then added 2 trillion to give 83% of tax cuts to the already wealthy…including himself and his family! By the time he was done, he added 7 TRILLION! The dems want to invest in the middle/lower classes like when I was a kid.

The first line in your letter completely contradicts the point you’re trying to make Mary Ann. The fact that the paper published a cartoon of Cuomo with Gaetz shows that there is no partisanship when it comes to calling out sexual misconduct of politicians. The difference is the Democrats and real news sources like the DG actually call out those politicians for their behavior and they end up becoming political pariahs. From Anthony Weiner, to Cuomo, to Spitzer, to Eric Schneiderman, and even Al Franken. But where are the Republicans on Donald Trump’s behavior, or even Matt Gaetz?? How come Fox News has been so silent on Matt Gaetz sexual crimes against minors? Crickets from the so-called “family values” party and Fox News.

William Aiken

Matt, how come the salacious stories about Matt Gaetz with their sensational headlines have disappeared from the news? The story just died. This tactic is a favorite of the media to take down the latest, rising GOP star. They use anonymous sources to craft these hit pieces while never interviewing the the target of this gossip. Then the media pulls an Emily Litella, saying “Never Mind.” as though nothing ever happened.

Some investigations are tightly controlled and there is more than Gaetz involved.

This is how it works when adults are in charge. This isn’t your high school student council as we saw in the previous term.
These people now are serious, and know how to keep their mouths shut.
I’m confident young Gaetz knows the other shoe hasn’t dropped yet.

William Aiken

Chuck D what we saw in the past Presidency was a bunch of swampy, backstabbing RINOS determined to undermine 45. That’s the reason for the constant leaks, all of which went in one direction; against President Trump.

William, backstabbing? That’s an appropriate term for the mob boss 45. They aren’t RINOs, they are ACTUAL respectful Republicans that refused to be in lock step with an abuser who’s also a criminal. I’ve always respected them even though I disagree with their policies. A healthy relationship can respectfully disagree, but pussy 45 can’t handle one bit, so attacks.

The people you call Republicans in name only are the true Republican Party of old. The wack job trump Worshipers

The people you call Republicans in name only are some of the few who remain from the true Republican Party. The blind trump loyalists most certainly are not part of the GOP. Unless that stands for Grossly Oppositional Party.

William Aiken

Do you mean respectful Republicans like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger? They traded in any respect they may have for frequent guest spots on MSNBC to trash Trump 24/7.

These two never complained about the crisis at the Southern border or Biden’s inflation. Yet, they obsessed over Jan. 6th, which the FBI just debunked the narrative it was an insurrection. Cheney was rightfully demoted from a GOP leadership position and thankfully, Stefanik replaced her. This is the direction where the GOP is headed.

The GOP under the leadership of Trump will chew up and spit out these useless, insider establishment RINOs who align themselves with elitist lefties, who mock the working class. The Dems have alienated the working class. Trump’s GOP gives these folks hope as a party that cares about issues(the economy, border security and world peace) that matter to them.

William Aiken

President Trump used the might of the military against terrorists. Then he used that track record as leverage. The Taliban stopped killing our soldiers in March 2020 because TRump threaten to destroy them if they didn’t oblige. They took his threats seriously and complained to Trump’s demands.

I guess someone out there who will defend Biden no matter the mess he created at the Southern Border or the carnage in Afghanistan. Face it Jclark! BIden lacks the mental acuity for the job. The Dems sold us a bill of goods. And its not going to get any easier for him or the rest of the country.

Mary Ann Brown…dems are the ONLY ones holding their own accountable. As soon as Leticia James’ unbiased report came out, every top dem pressured Cuomo to resign. Remember Al Franken thrown out over a lude joke? You have to reach back to Clinton (who was impeached, lost his law license, etc). You don’t think the Gazette criticized him then? Seriously, the Kennedy’s from 60 years ago when the media didn’t report personal information then?
Yet how was 45 protected after giving hush money to porn stars while in office (Cohen went to prison), pressuring Ukraine with our tax dollars to find dirt on his American competitor, has 12 fellow FELONS orbiting him so far, is endorsed by White Supremacists, hundreds of thousands of unnecessary covid deaths, refusing to accept his loss leading to an insurrection, over 30,000 lies in office…etc.
Now the repukes silently endorse nut jobs like MT Greene and Matt Gaetz who continue to spew lies and conspiracies…in lock step with the former domestic terrorist traitor who unfortunately held the highest office.

Add Stefanik as another of those nut jobs. Power over principles, power over the Constitution, power over the rule of law.

As for the rule of law it is the New York State Democrats that are responsible for a law that holds practicing Catholics financially responsible for child abuse that they neither practiced nor condoned. The rule of law used to be connected with the practice of justice. But alas times have changed.

Calling someone a nut job while hiding your identity is cowardice!

You really came here to defend child sex abuse and to absolve the church of responsibility for it? Pretty remarkable that you would not only think that, but then proudly post it on this page for everyone to see just how despicable you are.

People commit crimes and thus should beheld accountable for their crimes. Using the legal system to punish the innocent is nothing more than government sanctioned looting.

Individuals not institutions commit crimes.

“People commit crimes and thus should beheld accountable for their crimes.” trump, trump, trump.

“Individuals not institutions commit crimes.” trump, trump, trump.

Institutions can certainly enable those who commit crimes and that’s a crime in itself.
Why are you trying to protect child predators?

Institutions are legal constructs. It is people that are either guilty of a crime or not. Just requires that the guilty be accountable. As for enabling criminal activity those who kept silent about what happened to their children should be given full credit for exposing other children to the abuse that theirs experienced.

Those nut jobs are public figures who go out of their way for attention. 45 wasn’t qualified to be dogcatcher. No response for all the illegal, unethical, and dangerous behaviors I listed for 45, Fred? Just a stupid deflection? How about 45 exploiting our institutions to go after Americans? How about all his support of white supremacists and others willing to kiss his arse while Gov Whitmer and other fellow Americans were attacked by him, spurring more violence. Huh fred?

“Democrats that are responsible for a law that holds practicing Catholics financially responsible for child abuse that they neither practiced nor condoned.”

And that’s a lie, and should be stricken from this forum.

Then you deny that under New York law practicing Catholics are held financially responsible for the misdeeds of some clergy? I would find it helpful if you could explain what you contend to be my error.

Since lie is a statement utter with the intent to deceive how is it that you think that you think you my intentions with respect to the statement that you called a lie.

This is a tragic turn of events, and there will likely be more.
I find it repulsive and digusting that you would make light of it. And frankly, I would like to see your posting privileges suspended for this.

Are you still standing by your man, no crises at the southern border, Biden?

Like the hundreds of thousands that the orange moron killed by TOTALITY blowing it with every aspect of the pandemic.

“It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle it will disappear”

Ignorant Fox watching trump worshippers believed his lies and misinformation. Millions are still not willing to get the vaccine because of his words and the words of, yes, NUT JOBS the likes of MT Greene and Matt Gaetz.

Only what you want to hear, only what you want to see, only the way you want it to be, nothing else matters. Nothing.

Fred, You are beyond unreasonable.

Doug Hampton

Debra… I share your thoughts exactly. It is so apparent that Stefanik is extremely partisan and has nothing but climbing the ladder within “the party of hypocrisy”. In order to advance within the R ranks, one must kiss the ring of Trump. How sad the Republican party has sunk. Take a ride north and you will find that it is big time Trump country even still. Sad

As for the party of hypocrisy it is the Democrats that are for government mandated diversity programs but are against racism! Perhaps a Democrat will step forward and explain the difference between good and bad racism.

For the 1000th time in regards to your ignorant broken record post. Equality to whites for minorities rights is not racism. It’s, is just that, EQUALITY! Sorry for you that White supremacy in America isn’t what it was, or what you want it to be!

Honesty requires that government mandated diversity programs be labeled racial preferences for Blacks. Alternatively, the label reparations for Blacks would also reflect a touch of public honesty. Racially defined public policies is not racism?

Doug Hampton

Please enlighten me with these “government mandated diversity programs”. If you are referring to equality in terms of opportunity then okay. And if racism is defined as a” belief in the superiority of a particular race” then that works in both directions period.

Not to pile-on, but Ms. Brown’s letter is Exhibit A in how many people (who tend to support the previous President endorsed by the Russian President) will invent a horror and then run around like their hair’s on fire over it. While ignoring the real horrors they are responsible for.
It doesn’t need to be said, but it was Democrats that pulled Cuomo down, charged by a Democratic AG. Didn’t happen fast enough? Talk about your “instant gratification generation”.

CNN News Alert:
Seven US Capitol Police officers are suing former President Donald Trump, Stop the Steal rally organizers and members of far-right extremist groups, accusing them of spreading lies, using White supremacist sentiments to attempt to overthrow the 2020 election, and ultimately bearing responsibility for the riot that injured more than 140 officers on January 6.
“Plaintiffs and their fellow law enforcement officers risked their lives to defend the Capitol from a violent, mass attack — an attack provoked, aided, and joined by Defendants in an unlawful effort to use force, intimidation, and threats to prevent Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 Presidential election,” says the lawsuit, which was filed Thursday in US District Court for the District of Columbia.
“Because of Defendants’ unlawful actions, Plaintiffs were violently assaulted, spat on, tear-gassed, bear-sprayed, subjected to racial slurs and epithets, and put in fear for their lives,” the lawsuit says. “Plaintiffs’ injuries, which Defendants caused, persist to this day.”

“If Mr. Cuomo was a Republican, he would’ve been driven out of office months ago by the Democrats and the media.“ Just like agent orange was, right Mary Ann Brown?

Only what they want to hear, only what they want to see, only the way they want to be, nothing else matters, nothing.

Try making your point without being ignorant of fact. But why would you do that because your friends would be disappointed in being educated as to the truth they can’t live with.

Mr Harris too bad that the FBI said President Trump was not responsible and it was not a planned attack. I keep reading the comments by the lefties and realize what a severe case of TDS they have. Foreign news is reporting that Americans have been executed in outlying villages in Afghanistan, I don’t know where the verification is but it does seem possible. ChuckD above once Fred Barney removed because he doesn’t like hearing the truth, I think ChuckD should’ve been removed along time ago because of his lies and nasty comments but he’s a lefty so he gets to stay.

It’s incredible, he’s worse than a swarm of mosquitoes in a swamp. The U.S. government should hire him to torment the enemy to a point of exhaustion.
