Police: Schenectady man possessed child pornography; On probation in previous similar case

SCHENECTADY – A Schenectady man on probation in a previous similar case has been arrested, accused of possessing child pornography, authorities said.

Jared Giacumo, 25, of Foster Avenue, was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child, felonies.

He is accused of possessing the images in February at his residence, according to allegations filed in court.

Giacumo had been on 10 years of probation in connection with a 2019 child pornography possession case where he also served jail time, prosecutor John Carson said Tuesday.

His probation officer in February discovered an unapproved device in Giacumo’s possession and submitted it to the state police Computer Crimes Lab for inspection. A report recently came back that they found child pornography and Giacumo was charged, Carson said.

Giacumo has been in custody on a parole violation since last month, records show. He is being held without bail.
