SCHENECTADY – A city man has been arrested, accused of hitting another person in the face with a glass bottle after an argument, police said.

The victim, who also had charges filed against him in the incident, suffered a cut to his eye and was treated at the scene by the Schenectady Fire Department, police said.

Sudeshwar Chetty, 32, of Third Avenue, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon on Crane Street, near Seventh Avenue. Police were called to the residence for a report of an assault, police spokesman Patrick Irwin said.

Officers determined an argument had occurred where those involved knew each other and the argument turned physical, Irwin said. A vehicle was also damaged.

The victim in the assault was also charged related to the incident, Irwin said. Ghanesh Deodat, 25, of Schenectady, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal contempt, misdemeanors, and violation harassment, Irwin said.
