Gloversville men charged in city burglary


GLOVERSVILLE – Two Gloversville men have been charged with burglarizing a city residence, authorities said.

Matthew J. Lanz, 36, and Jouseth Torres-Colon, 35, both of Gloversville, face charges of second-degree burglary, a felony, along with misdemeanor stolen property possession and petty larceny.

They are accused of illegally entering a Steele Avenue apartment Aug. 14 and taking clothing, according to police court filings.

Torres-Colon is accused of hiding a pair of sneakers and a video game system owned by the victim in the building’s attic, according to the accusations. Lanz was later accused possessing a brown paper bag containing two pairs of sneakers and six items of clothing taken from the Steele Avenue address.

Police arrested the two men after detectives followed up on the initial complaint, police said.

The men were arraigned Aug. 16 and Aug. 17. Torres-Colon was released on non-monetary conditions, Lanz ordered held on $10,000 bail, officials said.
