The first responder was not injured in the incident and is not pressing charges, police said.

The driver of the truck, the only occupant, was taken to Ellis Hospital for an upper body injury described as minor. She was also being detained for driving while intoxicated, police said.

Rotterdam police responded around 1:45 p.m. to Putnam Road where they found a one-vehicle rollover. While first responders were getting the driver out of the vehicle the driver punched one of the emergency medical services personnel, Lt. Kyle Girard said.

“He’s not injured nor is he pressing charges,” Girard said of the first responder.

The driver was not immediately identified.

“They haven’t been arraigned or charged because they’re at the hospital,” Girard said.
