The Section II Class C football game between Fonda-Fultonville and Cobleskill-Richmondville was postponed due to protocols related to the novel coronavirus pandemic within the Fonda-Fultonville program, Braves coach Sean Thompson said Friday.

The game has been tentatively rescheduled for Sunday.

“There was some kind of COVID issue that we’re dealing with,” Thompson said. “To be sure, we’re moving it to Sunday. That’s tentatively when the game will be played.

“We’re still kind of waiting. We’re not sure what the situation is. We’re kind of in a holding pattern.”

Fonda-Fultonville was coming off a 49-21 win over Section VII’s Peru in a Week 0 game that was put together on two days’ notice after both teams lost their original opponents. Fonda-Fultonville had been scheduled to play Broadalbin-Perth, which canceled the game due to low numbers, while Peru had been set to play Green Tech, which could not play due to a COVID-19 quarantine that also forced the cancellation of the Eagles’ Week 1 game against Glens Falls.

This report will be updated.
