Sheriff: Woman charged with Clifton Park home jewelry thefts; Worked as house cleaner for elderly clients

CLIFTON PARK – A Waterford house cleaner has been arrested, accused of stealing jewelry from elderly clients she worked for, Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said.

Christy L. Batcher, 43, of Hudson River Road, Waterford, was charged last week with two counts of third-degree grand larceny and one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, felonies, officials said.

She was arrested related to thefts that happened between March 25 and May 19 of this year that involved jewelry that had been stolen from private residences, officials said.

Batcher was self-employed as a house cleaner and is accused of taking several items of jewelry and silverware from elderly clients and then exchanging the items for cash at a local business, officials said.

She was arraigned and released to return to court later.
