High schools: BH-BL boys’ volleyball wins over Bethlehem

Ben Pearce came away with 14 kills, and Aidan Calhoun had 22 assists to help the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake boys’ volleyball team beat Bethlehem 25-17, 25-7, 25-12 in a Suburban Council matchup Wednesday between unbeaten teams.

Liam Calhoun served six aces for Burnt Hill, which improved to 4-0 in the league. Bethlehem dipped to 5-1.

Bennett Wilson paced a balanced Shenendehowa front line with six kills, and Kyle Osborne had four aces and 10 assists in a 25-12, 25-8, 25-18 victory over CBA. The Plainsmen boosted their record to 5-0.

Zach Bell and Ethan Straughter had 10 and eight kills, respectively, and Max Hamilton assisted on 22 points to propel Saratoga Springs past Guilderland 25-22, 25-17, 19-25, 26-24. Nate DeJoy had 12 kills and seven blocks for Guilderland.

Makayla Blake and Hailie Phelps both had four kills and served for 10 points as part of Mechanicville’s 25-15, 25-17, 25-14 Wasaren League girls’ volleyball win over Berlin/New Lebanon.

Skyler Kennedy collected seven kills and nine assists, and Kiley Pennick had 12 assists and 14 service points in Waterford-Halfmoon’s 25-20, 25-22, 25-10 win over Saratoga Catholic.

Natalia Janicki had five aces among her nine service points and added three kills for Schoharie in a 25-2, 25-11, 25-10 non-league win over Cairo-Durham.

Sarah Leclerc turned an Olivia Andriola feed into a goal, and Trinity Gulbrandsen made six saves as Mohonasen blanked Holy Names 1-0 in a Colonial Council girls’ soccer game.

Harry Rubinstein scored two goals, one coming on a penalty kick, and the Stillwater boys topped Cambridge 4-0 in a Wasaren League soccer game. Ben Rubinstein and Landon Staie also scored for Stillwater.

Chelsea King scored two goals and assisted on one to lift Guilderland past Niskayuna 6-0 in a Suburban Council field hockey game. Giuliana Vivenzio had a goal and two assists for 4-0 Guilderland.

Molly Pochobradsky scored a first-quarter goal assisted by Amelia Landry, and the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake field hockey team made it stand up in a 1-0 win over Shaker Tuesday night.
