Police described the motorcyclist’s injuries as life-threatening. He remains at Albany Medical Center, where he had been airlifted to Sunday. The driver of the car was also injured, but was released from Albany Medical Center after being evaluated.

The crash happened just after 10 a.m. at the intersection of Lisha Kill Road and Troy-Schenectady Road, police said.

Police have not identified either driver.

A preliminary investigation showed speed and disobeying a red traffic signal to be contributing factors. A release did not offer further information, including to whom police attributed the contributing factors.

Niskayuna Deputy Police Chief Mike Stevens said both Colonie Police Department and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s office are continuing to reconstruct the accident and no further updates are available.
