Flash Flood Warning for much of Montgomery, Saratoga counties, parts of Fulton, Schenectady counties

ALBANY – The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for most of Montgomery County into southern Fulton County, Schenectady County and across much of Saratoga County.

The service issued the warning after a line of strong storms passed over the area.

It initially included much of the western part of the Montgomery County, including Fort Plain, Canajoharie, Johnstown and Fonda. A second area then included Amsterdam, Perth and Galway and Charleston in Saratoga County and the northern tip of Schenectady County. Those areas are to continue until 4:30 p.m.

The warning was extended along the same line to include Ballston Spa, Saratoga Springs and Gansevoort. That warning is to continue until 4:45 p.m.

Finally, a Flash Flood Warning was issued for a swath from Schenectady through Mechanicville to continue until 5:30 p.m.

ALBANY – The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the entirety of the Capital Region through Wednesday evening.

The watch covers all of Schenectady, Saratoga, Fulton, Montgomery and Schoharie counties and is to run until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Scattered hail of up to ping pong ball size is possible, along with possible scattered gusts of up to 70 mph and frequent lightning, the service said.

The larger watch area runs from central Pennsylvania through New York State and into much of Vermont.
