This is the dawning of the Age of Darwinism

We humans have been through the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, the Age of Enlightenment, even the Age of Aquarius (you must remember that one) and now we are about to enter the Age of the Survival of the Fittest. That will happen when all the dim-witted anti-vaxers die and only the vaxxed are left to inhabit the Earth … but wait, there’s the climate to contend with. Ah, for the Age of Aquarius….

‘My child, my choice’ message is appalling

On our way back from vacation the other day, my husband and I passed a billboard on I-90 that I found appalling. It read: “My child, my choice. Stop vaccine mandates.”

My question: Picture yourself outside of a pediatric ICU and the attending physician comes out to inform you that your child is unresponsive and unable to be revived. What choice do you have then?

Learn before bashing ‘defund the police’

I am a junior at Scotia Glenville High School and I am shocked when I hear people misinformed about the world we live in and spreading false information that they get from the internet. What I’m referring to are the people who say that defunding the police is like giving permission to criminals to just kill people.

The problem is that you are trying to find a way to connect your idea and the ideas of the groups proposing it, instead of reading up on what they actually want. I have read up on the BLM movement and educated myself before I talk about the issue just in case I am wrong (something for some people to learn.)

Here is what I have learned.

  1. Defunding the Police is exactly what it sounds like, it is breaking down and disbanding the current militant-like police forces we have across the country to rebuild a new, more equitable system that does not decide the amount of response based on the physical appearance of the suspect.

And 2. The main idea for the new system is to have police only be needed for serious crimes and when doing so only use force when necessary, not when threatened just by the look of someone. The rest should be taken care of by a social worker or mental health worker. Read it, don’t assume it.

Media to blame for discord in U.S.

The media is tearing the United States of America apart. The radio, TV and newspapers are all part of it. Some say one thing and others say something else. Lots of people don’t know who to believe any more. This is like a civil war going on. It is affecting the listeners and the readers. They in turn tell others and it goes on and on — what a mess.

We have enough with the virus, the unrest with other countries in the world and the infighting in our government. This has to stop or else the answer will be something that you wish would not happen. It’s time for peace, kindness and understanding in our country or is this too much to ask for? We better look up to the heavens and ask for help as we need it really badly.

LOUIS RESTIFO

Yesterday:
“Donald Trump has offered his public support to those accused of joining the January 6 riot at the US Capitol which killed five people, claiming that suspects are “being persecuted so unfairly” just days before a “Justice for J6” rally in Washington is set to commemorate the insurrection.

Just wondering how many doctors, surgeons, college professors, electrical engineers and scientists will be showing up for this “J6” rally.

“Our hearts and minds are with the people being persecuted so unfairly relating to the January 6th protest concerning the Rigged Presidential Election”

“And these were peaceful people. These were great people. The crowd was unbelievable and I mention the word love. The love, the love in the air-I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Just keep supporting this criminal jackass, repulsive traitor. The fact that he is taken seriously and is so relevant to the leaders of United States of America’s GOP is mind boggling…pure insanity!!

The only things that should be considered relevant to this nation in regards to trump is some bad history and that no man is above the law. Hopefully the up-coming criminal charges and his indictment will lead to justice prevailing.

William Aiken

We aren’t going to reach an agreement on whether the Jan 6th rioters have been treated fairly. So let’s shoot for clarity. I believe that holding these people in jail without charging them, denying them bail, and holding them in solitary confinement(23 hours a day of isolation) on misdemeanor charges is akin to the treatment of political prisoners. You believe our criminal justice system has treated them in a fair and just manner.

Get your facts straight. Those that are still detained pending trial are the ones who committed the most violent acts against police officers and those charged with conspiracy. Those are not “misdemeanor charges”. But it has been noted that you are advocating for bail reform, so welcome to the team!

William Aiken

There are dozens of suspects who fall under the circumstances I noted. That’s who I’m talking about. Julie Kelly, reporter for the American Spector is the only member of the media who has done a thorough job of detailing the injustice these people have suffered.

Unlike the MSM, she’s visited the prisoners, she’s seen the deplorable conditions of the jail, she’s interviewed their defense attorneys. Some of the alleged rioters are sitting in jail who never even entered the Capital. The abuses of power by DOJ is too long to list them all. Where are you getting your facts, Matt? I suggest your read this article to educate yourself on what’s actually transpired since Jan 6th. You won’t hear about it on CNN/MSNBC, WAPO or NYT because they haven’t covered the full story. Kelly Has.

RAYMOND HARRIS

If the courts deem them to be a threat to society, they should be held in jail. Let’s take a look at where things stand now from the NYT:
“In the months since the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, videos and investigations have underscored how violent it was.
The attack broke windows and damaged offices in the Capitol building. Lawmakers and their staffs, fearing for their lives, tried to hide. The rioters beat and maced police officers, with prosecutors counting about 1,000 physical assaults. About 150 officers suffered injuries, and many are still coping with psychological trauma.
“I felt like I was fighting for my life,” one Capitol Police officer told The Times. “I can tell you, legitimately, I did not think I was going to make it home.”
Yet even as the details of the attack have become clearer, the condemnation of it has become less widespread. Instead, a growing number of Republicans and their media allies have downplayed the riot. Some have begun to treat it as a heroic act.
Tomorrow, the valorization of Jan. 6 will come to Capitol Hill, when supporters of Donald Trump plan to hold a rally, called “Justice for J6,” to protest what they call the unfair treatment of people arrested in connection with the attack. The rally is likely to be large enough that the police have reinstalled fencing around the Capitol to protect it, and officials have warned lawmakers and their aides to avoid the area on Saturday.”

So William, are you planning to go and get your insurrectionist friends out? Trump will be watching on television like he did on J6 after telling the crowd he will march with them to the Capitol. Instead, he hide in his office or was it the WH bunker like he did during the BLM protest. What a faux tough guy you love and admire.

From your citation, Mr. Aiken:

“…Joe Biden’s Justice Department, which continues to arrest and charge Americans for even minor involvement in the Capitol protest.”

So what’s wrong with this reporting? Can you spot it? I’m betting you, nor your tRump-humping friends can’t.

Most Americans understand though why this wasn’t a “protest” and that may be one of the most disturbing aspects of this.
This was a violent insurrection. It went way beyond a “protest”. This was a violent attempt to overturn our elections with threats, in unison, to kill elected officials. The fact that this journalist, this professional, self-appointed “fact-checker of the Left” considers the events that the Q-idiots and faux-military and other White supremacists participated in a “protest” throws serious shade on anything else she may allege.
Your source (once again) has impugned itself.

Clear?

How about showing some concern for all the false arrests (with unprovoked violent physical abuse, or death) and false imprisonments and false convictions (often later retracted) committed by our so-called law enforcement and justice system over the generations?

Oh right, those weren’t good Christian White people, were they? They likely deserved it didn’t they?

Color me shocked that the DOJ is abusing its power. Are you just realizing this now that it’s poor white people that are imprisoned? Were you as outraged at the story of Kalief Browder who served three years at Rikers Island pending a trial for allegedly stealing a backpack? Were you as outraged at the story of Marquis Dixon who was sentenced to nine years in prison for stealing a pair of sneakers? Were you as outraged over Crystal Mason, who was sentenced to five years in prison for mistakenly casting a provisional election ballot? Either stand up for principle and admit that these three cases (and thousands of more like it) are egregious abuses of power, or shut up and accept the fact that folks trying to overthrow our democratic existence are finally on the receiving end of our draconian justice system.

Matt, Your opening line to William goes to what was written about yesterday. Truth and facts combined.

William,
Not exactly an unbiased source, sorta like you accuse MSM of being. Struggles with Factual reporting.

Rather than citing your long list of negative views on Julie Kelly. Can you name one thing in her reporting on the Jan 6th rioters that isn’t true?

For you posters on here who post what you think is truth and facts. Please read this letter again from a very smart well adjusted JUNIOR in high school. Especially the first sentance. Maybe we could all learn something.

We could have a productive debate if you would stick to the facts that are reported in the story. What some media critic says whether their liberal or conservative doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. Whether the story report by Julie Kelly is truthful is what matters.

Kelly reported some damning facts regarding how the Jan 6th rioters have been treated by the DOJ So if you want to challenge what she reported have at it. Yet, Lefties can never debate facts, Truth is not a left wing value. They only resort to dismissing or mocking their opponent without engaging in a substative argument.

LOUIS RESTIFO

“Whether the story report by Julie Kelly is truthful is what matters.” Not really. Not much of a story with any real substance.

I’ve got a story: Donald trump was the 45th POTUS. He was taller than the average president. He was overweight. He appointed many of his relatives, friends, and campaign contributors to political office. He didn’t seem to like Hillary Clinton. Again, a simple story without any real substance, but none the less, the truth.

For enlightenment regarding whether the 1/6/21 rioters are being treated fairly, for the second time I’ll ask you to open the following link that has factual substance, not a few paragraphs of selective information.

You guys crack me up! Anyone who is against Trump is labeled a “lefty” Where would your side be without labels? Lost….that’s where. That’s your playbook….all smear tactics as if you own all the facts to yourself! Just laughable. Shall I name all the many “lefties” as you like to refer to them. Long list….true Conservatives for the most part see the evil this man is capable of and have left the building . Nobody is more Conservative than George Will and that’s just 1 of many who understand the danger of this man. I understand your rules…if you aren’t with us you are against us, but do yourself a favor in the interests of fairness. Take a look at the members of the Conservative media ,former R politicians, and former Trump cabinet members that have abandoned the ship. It’s fools like yourself that are keeping this guy propped up. If you notice it’s the R politicians that want to keep their jobs that are publicly supporting Trump. The party has become a really bad joke!

I want to be hopeful that the recent Kalamity in Kali: the Big Recall will slap some of these single-minded tRumpers into reality, but alas, their minds don’t have room for self-reflection and reassessing their predicament.

As you say (and George Bush the Lesser made famous), “…if you aren’t with us you are against us.”

The facts do not support your assertion. And don’t “suggest” I present my facts because they’ve already been “presented” to you and you refuse to address the obvious contradiction rendering your assertion pointless and without merit.

RAYMOND HARRIS

The latest tactic by the anti-vaxxers is the demand that any vaccine mandate include a religious exemption. Apparently, right wing social media started the rumor that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were produced using aborted fetuses. Well, I researched a Fact Check website and found that claim to be false. Thus, no exemption is necessary. I hope Gov. Hochul uses this in the lawsuit by a group of people who are using this tactic. Here’s what I found:
“Most of the COVID-19 vaccines in development do not use human cell lines in their production. For example, Pfizer and Moderna use mRNA technology.
An mRNA vaccine is a new type of synthetic vaccine. As Pfizer explains, mRNA vaccines are made from a DNA template in a lab, rather than the traditional method of being made in cells. The vaccine is then synthetically produced.
The Moderna vaccine is also synthetic. Moderna began by designing a gene sequence on a computer. Damian Garde explains how Chinese scientists, after isolating the virus from patients, posted the genetic sequence for COVID-19 online. Moderna and BioNtech used software to tell them “what chemicals to put together and in what order”.” The courts must rule in favor of the mandates. Enough with the excuses.

These who want a religious exemption to vaccine mandates Are being less than thoughtful. Make a choice your job or your religious beliefs. In any case they should proudly do what they think is right. What the religious exemption is involving others in a religion that is not theirs.

William,
I guess I just can’t debate you on the treatment of 1/6 insurrectionists. As I watched on live TV all the mob destruction and desecration of the capitol and police officers being beaten and injured, the animals crawling all over the building like you see in third world countries, I just have no sympathy or care how they are treated in jail.
Question for you who site the destruction of the BLM protesters all the time. Do you care how the ones who destroyed and looted business are treated in jail? I don’t if they are guilty. Would you like to debate the guilt of the 1/6 ers who I and probably you seen inside the capitol or the one;s beating the police? Sure hope there defense attorneys have doubled there usual rates to defend them. Boo who if the food is bad and they don’t have internet.

Again, unrelated to anything being digested here today:

Overturning Roe v Wade will promote abstinence, says architect of Texas abortion ban
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/sep/17/texas-abortion-ban-jonathan-mitchell-supreme-court-brief

The legal architect of the Texas abortion ban has argued in a supreme court brief that overturning Roe v Wade, the landmark decision which guarantees a right to abortion in the US, would compel women to practice abstinence as a way to “control their reproductive lives”.

Former Texas solicitor general Jonathan Mitchell, who played a pivotal role in designing the legal framework of the state’s near-total abortion ban, also argued on behalf of anti-abortion group Texas Right to Life that women would still be able to terminate pregnancies if Roe was overturned by traveling to “wealthy pro-abortion” states like California and New York with the help of “taxpayer subsidies”.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because this is what it comes down to, doesn’t it? What the Christians believe is what we all should believe and no matter they’re in the minority. The philosophical similarities to groups like the Taliban are hard to ignore. But I’m sure Solicitor Mitchell feels he has “friends in high places”, like on the Supreme Court.
MAGA?
Our enemies smell weakness, are you lefties happy yet? Don’t you wish for the days of mean tweets and a safe America and world?
North Korea has been relatively quiet since President Trump last met with Kim Jong Un at the DMZ in June 2019. It has carried out no major weapons tests, and focused largely on dealing with COVID, droughts and keeping its ailing economy afloat.
But now, eight months into the Biden administration, it is reverting to old ways, and it appears North Korea leader Kim Jong Un is upgrading his weapons arsenal, showcasing new technologies and testing President Biden — once again posing a serious threat to regional and global security.
Writer Cameron Breslin deserves some love for his points on this whole “Defund the Police” movement.
True enough, it is about breaking down the military-like presence we all see from these law enforcement organizations. Add in the ubiquitous bully trait that’s also prevalent and we’ve gone far astray from the idea of “keepers of the peace”. Flaunting your weaponry does nothing toward keeping the peace, especially in an already mostly peaceful society (and if you doubt we live in a mostly peaceful society, you need to get off the internet and visit a real third-world country sometime).
Thanks Cameron for a well-thought out opinion.
Hometown hero (and Albany Academy for Girls grad) Elise Stefanik claims in a new ad that Democrats support creating a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants because they want to create a "permanent election insurrection" against Americans.
This was met with predictable derision by The Other Local Newspaper who pointed out "the parallels between this rhetoric and the neo-Nazis who chanted, 'Jews will not replace us!' during a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017."
"'The Harvard-educated Ms. Stefanik surely knows the sordid history and context of this,' the editors write. 'At various times, politicians have warned that Catholics, Jews, or Muslims were out to change the 'culture,' or that Irish, Italian, Asian or eastern European immigrants would take the jobs — to 'replace' white, Protestant Americans.'"
The editors conclude by saying that Stefanik and her "hateful rhetoric" need to be replaced more than anything else currently threatening the United States.
Oh Elise! Why don't your alma maters embrace you for your brave stances in defense of the White race?
Instead they only shun you! So unfair!
