New mom Stefanik should back vaccines for medical workers
Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville is reluctantly discontinuing its maternity care services because a number of employees in that unit have refused to become vaccinated against the coronavirus.
It is worth noting that Lewis County is in the congressional district represented by Elise Stefanik. It is also worth noting that Rep. Stefanik recently gave birth to her first child, and for that we offer her and her husband our sincere congratulations.
When she has recovered from the birth, it would seem humane and logical for Rep. Stefanik to strongly urge all hospital employees in her district to get vaccinated, to follow the mandates of state government and President Biden.
To do this, she must break free of the political stranglehold placed on national vaccination efforts by many in the Republican Party, for which Rep. Stefanik is now a congressional leader.
No doubt the hospital employees and mothers-to-be of Lewis County, regardless of political party, would greatly benefit.

Americans need to push back on Biden
First, Joe Biden pulls our troops out of Afghanistan in a disgraceful and humiliating manner, leaving behind many American citizens and allies and billions in the latest military equipment.
Then, he dictatorially imposes a vaccine mandate on virtually everyone, violating constitutional rights and potentially leaving businesses crippled and many people jobless.
That’s just the latest, not to speak of an open southern border, killing our oil and gas independence, increasing inflation and so on.
Biden’s election validity continues to be probed by several states. He and his insane Democratic Party — the party of slavery, Jim Crow and segregation — sow seeds of dissension, silence free speech and denigrate our country as inherently evil. They have their own storm troopers — Antifa and Black Lives Matter, both anti-democratic in philosophy and tactics.
I expect Biden will continue his demolition of America so that our list of grievances against him will exceed those against King George III in our Declaration of Independence. The difference is Britain was a foreign power, but we’re dealing with enemies among us, creating internal demoralization and becoming increasingly totalitarian.
If Americans don’t organize and push back hard now, with God’s help, resistance will eventually become futile.

What an embarrassment Joe Biden was speaking before the United Nations General assembly. The most telling thing about Joe Biden is that he never mentioned China once, China is our greatest adversary and yet Biden never mentioned their name. Joe Biden is in the tank for China, Hunter Biden‘s laptop was real, Hunter Biden sold his soul to China. Joe Biden knows that China knows that he is the “Big Guy” caught up in Hunter Biden scandal, so Joe was afraid to say anything against China because he’s afraid that they will tell all, you can see that’s true by his actions. And then Joe Biden goes on there called UN the United States he must’ve missed his nap.
Not quite as embarrassing as Trump getting laughed at by the Whole UN assembly when he spoke. …William the only reason I come here each day is to see what flavor of the day ignorance you spew. ……it’s really comical
He didn’t mention bean burritos either Bill. What do you think it means?
Just another example that folks are going to believe what they choose to believe whether there is substantial evidence or not. If there was any real evidence that what you are saying is true,it would not be tolerated by either party.
William–boy was I happy not to hear CHI na! The ChI na virus! or Kung flu!
I’ll admit that I hold my breath whenever Joe Biden makes a big address knowing his propensity for misspeaking, and it is a bit embarrassing to watch at times. But there’s a world of difference between making a gaffe, and say, standing on the world stage and taking Putin’s word over that of our own intelligence. The fact that the MAGA crowd can’t even admit that the former president shouldn’t have done that speaks volumes about their inability to be even the slightest bit critical when it is absolutely warranted. And they call the left a bunch of sheeple!
Biden also overcame a debilitating stutter as a youngster by reciting poetry, so speeches are not his greatest asset, and he does misspeak sometimes. But I continually cringed listening to 45s hateful, divisive, and often ignorant statements…so I’ll take Biden any day. The overall message is what’s important…and Biden is trying to calm tensions, not escalate. If China “acts up” Biden will not be afraid to call them out.
Btw Bill, what’s “telling” is you’re always quick to jump on CHI-na as our biggest adversary, yet you never, ever mention Russia. That’s because they helped you and Trump, isn’t it?
Yes it is, and it’s very well-documented by now, and it’s the camel that’s not only gotten his nose into your tent, but left you all a big present to deal with. It must really suck to be a Republican right now.
But happy trails!
ChuckD, just stop Russia is no concern of ours, they are broke well at least they were broke until Biden gave them a European oil pipeline, now they’re starting to get some money but regardless of that Russia has nothing for us to be afraid of. China on the other hand owns half of America they are our biggest competition in the world markets , not only money but goods and services, so yes china is our adversary not Russia. The only people concerned about Russia are Democrats and the big Russian lie. And yes we need to be concerned, we promised Taiwan that we would protect it but after what we saw in Afghanistan and how weak Biden is China is more emboldened. Just so you know most of our computer chips and electronics come from Taiwan and China wants it. Liberalism really is a mental disorder.
ACLU and BLM believe it is a coordinated effort between Saratoga, Schenectady, Troy and Albany to intimidate protesters??
1.) They are giving the local government(s) too much credit to be that crafty – they have a hard enough time picking up trash, filling pot holes, and taking care of zombie properties;
2.) Peaceful protests & free speech – do not include laying down blocking traffic, harassing pedestrians or patrons at restaurants, swearing and being obnoxious at events, and vandalism of property.
Poor behavior no matter what your skin color or message is wrong!!
There is no vaccine mandate, the federal government doesn’t have the authority to require citizens to take a vaccine. There is no law, nor any executive order requiring people to get the vaccine. If you don’t want to get the vaccine, and you work for an employer with 100+ employees, based on the new OSHA rule the solution is simple, get a test weekly to prove you are not a threat to infect other employees with your COVID.
That is correct Matt. I just love these obvious anti Biden FOX viewers who just throw out these laundry list of things that they think Biden is wrong on and they so neatly tie it all together by calling the Democratic party “the party of slavery ” etc. Of course historically that is true but they obviously don’t acknowledge or understand that everything flip flopped a long time ago. It makes a good headline but it means absolutely nothing in today’s political climate. One obvious example is that the South is solid red today where back in the day it was all Democratic. You do the math there Eric. Open up a History book once in awhile!
Maybe you didn’t hear Joe Biden’s Chief of Staff talk about what a great work around the White House used in order to get OSHA to mandate the vaccine, illegally I might add.
It’s not a vaccine mandate, it’s a testing mandate, which you can opt out of by taking the vaccine.
Rather than speculate on whether Stefanik should encourage medical workers to vaccinate, a more interesting question would be to find out why the workers refuse vaccination. Are they ignorant or do they know something we don’t?
fredsmith–or are they sticking with their political “camp” on vaccines? Stefanik is not saying anything to promote vaccines for her own political position…sad.
That’s not an interesting question because it has an easy answer: they’re ignorant. Or misinformed.
You forgot stupid.

I think there are certainly many that are not getting vaccinated because of their political positions but I think if you go deeper than that , it’s still that overall lack of trust in the government that is just dividing our country currently. This is the environment that Trump created and is still holding strong with too many people. Until a R leader really stands up to Trump and his ilk and completely tears him down and proves what a fake and what a coward he really is ,this divide will be with us for a long time. They have been brainwashed to believe that anything the D party believes to be true is evil and wrong.
The Democratic party vilified the vaccine because Trump did it. They spent a great deal of time saying they didn’t trust it and wouldn’t take it, it wasn’t good. Now these same folks are saying the exact same vaccine is great and because THEY say it is right, everyone should take it. And you wonder why people don’t trust the government.
Annie…do a little digging and you will find that the fact checkers already debunked what you are saying as false. The comments made from Biden, Harris, and Cuomo were directed at the mistrust they have for Trump not the vaccine. Trump was determined to get it done before the election(surprise, surprise) thus the mistrust of the vaccine. Cuomo responded to Trump’s assertion that he was going to over rule the FDA. So yes plenty of mistrust on both sides, thus the great divide in our country. We all need to turn the channel more often , minimally to know the other sides point of view. Whether it changes your mind or not, at least you know both sides. I think if people really think about it, these reasons make good sense.
The Democrats had nothing to do with the following disinformation. It’s already been explained here and elsewhere what the truth is. It’s not my truth, it’s not the Dems’ truth and it’s not the Libs’ truth. It simply is the truth. Donald Trump is responsible for this mess of resistance. He could have taken it seriously but his actions were not in the interest of the American people, except to market his personal brand.
Do you have the guts to respond to this? Based on your history here, I doubt it.
From 2020:
Trump: “Coronavirus numbers are looking much better, going down almost everywhere,” and cases are “coming way down.”
When Trump made these claims in May, coronavirus cases were either increasing or plateauing in the majority of American states. Over the summer, the country saw a second surge even greater than its first in the spring.
Trump: “The pandemic is “fading away. It’s going to fade away.”
Trump made this claim ahead of his rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when the country was still seeing at least 20,000 new daily cases and a second spike in infections was beginning.
Trump: “99%” of Covid-19 cases are “totally harmless.”
The virus can still cause tremendous suffering if it doesn’t kill a patient, and the WHO has said that about 15 percent of Covid-19 cases can be severe, with 5 percent being critical. Fauci has rejected Trump’s claim, saying the evidence shows that the virus “can make you seriously ill” even if it doesn’t kill you.
Trump: “We now have the lowest Fatality (Mortality) Rate in the World.”
The U.S. had neither the lowest mortality rate nor the lowest case-fatality rate when Trump made this claim. As of July 13, the case-fatality rate—the ratio of deaths to confirmed Covid-19 cases—was 4.1 percent, which placed the U.S. solidly in the middle of global rankings. At the time, it had the world’s ninth-worst mortality rate, with 41.33 deaths per 100,000 people, according to Johns Hopkins University
Trump: Children are “virtually immune” to Covid-19.
The science is not definitive, but that doesn’t mean children are immune. Studies in the U.S. and China have suggested that kids are less likely than adults to be infected, and more likely to have mild symptoms, but can still spread the virus to their family members and others. The CDC has said that about 7 percent of Covid-19 cases and less than 0.1 percent of Covid-19-related deaths have occurred in children.
Trump: The U.S. has “among the lowest case-fatality rates of any major country anywhere in the world.”
When Trump said this, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and India all had lower case-fatality rates than the U.S., which sat in the middle of performance rankings among all nations and among the 20 countries hardest hit by the virus.
Trump: America is “rounding the corner” and “rounding the final turn” of the pandemic.
Trump made these claims before and after the country registered 200,000 coronavirus deaths. As the winter approaches, coronavirus cases are increasing in a slew of states in the Midwest and the South, and data suggest that a third national surge might happen in the coming weeks. Fauci and CDC Director Robert Redfield have also warned Americans about the winter, with Fauci highlighting the “need to hunker down and get through this fall and winter, because it’s not going to be easy.”
More Trump Covid-19 claims
In March: “You have to be calm. It’ll go away.”
In April: “I’m feeling good. I just don’t want to be doing — somehow sitting in the Oval Office behind that beautiful resolute desk, the great resolute desk, I think wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens, I don’t know, somehow I don’t see it for myself. I just don’t. Maybe I’ll change my mind.”
In May: “When we have a lot of cases, I don’t look at that as a bad thing, I look at that as, in a certain respect, as being a good thing,…Because it means our testing is much better. I view it as a badge of honor, really, it’s a badge of honor.”
In June: “Coronavirus deaths are way down. Mortality rate is one of the lowest in the World. Our Economy is roaring back and will NOT be shut down. “Embers” or flare ups will be put out, as necessary!”
Joe wants to shut down this Country. I want to keep it OPEN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2020
In July: “You will never hear this on the Fake News concerning the China Virus, but by comparison to most other countries, who are suffering greatly, we are doing very well – and we have done things that few other countries could have done!”
In August: “We’ve done a great job in Covid but we don’t get the credit.”
In September: “Take your hat off to the young because they have a hell of an immune system. But [the virus] affects virtually nobody. It’s an amazing thing. By the way, open your schools everybody, open your schools.”
Doug, I agree with your above assessment. I also believe there is an additional layer of depth regarding the current political divide. Again something that trump’s rhetoric awakened that contributes to the toxicity of the current Republican Party; Racism and White supremacy.
Read the posts of far right leaning bloggers on this forum. They don’t believe minority voter suppression laws and tactics being implemented in the red states are just that, voter suppression tactics. They’re obsessed with preventing brown skinned “criminals and rapists” from entering America. They’re very comfortable with White privilege and will continue to support the toxic Republican agenda as long they can remain comfortable sitting on the top of the totem pole of race privilege.
I believe racism and bigotry are huge factors as to why the trumpian divide in America is currently happening.
No doubt. And I will add this….At one time I used to buy into the claim that “All Trumpsters aren’t racists”…..maybe I was being kind or generous but I now feel differently. There are so many levels of racism and just because you aren’t burning crosses in your front yard doesn’t mean that you aren’t a racist:) As time has gone by with Trump either as President or the last 9 months or so, it has become apparent to me that you have to be in order to support him or this party. There is no other explanation. I was late to the party as this Texas voting legislation just become way too real for me.
Not quite as embarrassing as Trump getting laughed at by the Whole UN assembly when he spoke. …William the only reason I come here each day is to see what flavor of the day ignorance you spew. ……it’s really comical
Carl Strick – thanks for your September 19 piece. One thing to possibly correct, you say that their actions don’t disgust the BLM followers:
“At least it turns my stomach, though it obviously does not have that effect on their followers, dwindling though their numbers may be, who turn out to serve as an echo chamber and response chorus. They’re down to about 100 now.”
I disagree – the significantly reduced numbers indicate exactly that – i.e., that most of us BLM supporters are turned off but such offensive behavior.
Agreed.
I don’t think this is what John Lewis meant when he endorsed “good trouble’.
*Strock
Mr Eisenberg & Chuck – agreed
This needs to be posted now a a public service. Disgraced military mutt Mike Flynn took a stab at starting another deep state horror story by suggesting the evil government is plotting to put the eviller, mind-controlling COVID vaccine in salad dressing.
As these stupid tricks tend to go, there’s an true part that’s being obscured for questionable reasons.

Thanks to a $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, researchers are now looking to accomplish three goals. First, the team will try to successfully deliver DNA containing mRNA vaccines into plant cells, where they can replicate. Next, the study authors want to show that plants can actually produce enough mRNA to replace a traditional injection. Finally, the team will need to determine the right dosage people will need to eat to properly replace vaccinations.

Louis and Doug seems to relate racism and white supremacy to the republican party. But Biden is in charge now. It is his people who took horses to turn back Black Haitians at the border. He never did this with lighter skinned people from Mexico and the triangle countries.
Is it your belief that with a new President comes an entirely new Federal workforce?
Border Patrol’s problems are well documented and go way past Biden. Do yourself a favor and learn how to look up stuff on your own.
So now you’re implying that since Biden is president people like Fred, William, William and Zachary as well as others and perhaps yourself are going to join the BLM movement and White supremacy is dead. Give me a break.
Fred Smith exactly, why hasn’t Biden been to the border to see what he created? I’ll tell you why it’s because he wants it that way. Undocumented Democrats.
All I am saying is Biden has been in charge since January. It’s his job to get it right, that’s why he was elected.
