CBA's Jaylen Riggins (10) is wrapped up by Schenectady's Jakeim Edge, left, during a Saturday, Oct. 2 football game at Larry Mulvaney Field in Schenectady.

Jaylen Riggins scored three touchdowns on two receptions and a fumble recovery, and Christian Brothers Academy recorded its fourth shutout in five games this season in rolling to a 53-0 Class AA football win over Schenectady on Saturday at Larry Mulvaney Field.

CBA (3-0 Class AA, 5-0 overall) has outscored its opponents 221-6 this season, with Bethlehem the lone team to score against this season against the Brothers, who face fellow unbeaten Shaker on Friday.

“Defensively, we’re pretty good,” CBA coach Bobby Burns said. “I’ve had some good defenses in the past, and this one’s pretty good. Our front seven is good. . . . It’s not like we’re trying to shut everybody out or anything, we’re just playing.”

Schenectady dropped to 0-3 overall and in Class AA play.

“We had a good week of practice, but that’s a great [CBA] football team over there,” Schenectady coach Carm DePoalo said. “You can’t shoot yourself in the foot. We got a drive going and we fumbled, we probably had five or six bad snaps today. We’ve got to regroup and come out to play next week.”

In Class A, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake scored on the first play from scrimmage and never looked back in defeating Queensbury 42-21.

Tyler Manning completed a pass to Kevin Carney for a 55-yard touchdown, and Jaleel Joseph scored on a 45-yard run as Burnt Hills took a 14-0 lead after the first quarter.

Joseph scored on a 4-yard run in the second quarter for a 21-0 halftime lead.

Queensbury finally got on the scoreboard on Trevon Bailey’s 52-yard run with 3:19 left in the third quarter, but Burnt Hills responded right away with an 18-yard pass from Manning to Carney for a 28-6 lead through three quarters.

Manning finished the game 8-for-10 for 136 yards and the two scores.

Giovanni DiCaprio scored on a 15-yard run with 1:51 left in the game to give Fonda-Fultonville a 21-14 victory over Vernon-Verona-Sherrill in a non-classification game.

Jackson Cusack caught six passes for 96 yards for Fonda, including a 21-yarder from Connor Weaver to give Fonda a 14-6 lead in the third quarter.

ANDERSON LIFTS GALWAY

In the WAC Vs. Wasaren Challenge, Colin Anderson scored in the second half to give Galway a 1-0 victory over Saratoga Catholic.

Northville led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Wyatt Sira and Colin Morehouse.

Britain Goodemote scored two goals to help Mayfield defeated Greenwich 4-0.

Haley Drinon had the other goal for Schoharie and assisted on one.

In the Suburban Council, Maddie Mills made three saves, and Anna Joyce made six as Niskayuna tied Colonie 0-0. Hailey Blake stopped six shots for Colonie.

The Saratoga Springs girls’ and Averill Park boys’ cross country teams won their respective divisions in the large-school competition at the Guilderland Invitational.

The Blue Streaks took the top seven spots, led by Emily Bush (16:34.77) and Ella Kurto (17:07.74).

Guilderland also went 1-2 in the boys’ large-school race, with Finn Burke (15:28.75) and Will Cusato (15:46.72) were the top two runners, but Averill Park got five runners across the line sooner and narrowly outscored the Dutchmen 35-31.

RZESZOTARSKI RECORD

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake senior Carlie Rzeszotarski broke the all-time career school record for kills during the ASICS Challenge tournament in Chicago on Friday.

Sarah Morton had held the record, with 1,349, and Rzeszotarski stood at 1,359 after Burnt Hills defeated Cary Grove (Ill.), 26-24, 21-25, 25-22, and Sandburg (Ill.), 25-15, 25-22, to advance to the Gold Bracket. The Spartans lost three matches on Saturday and finished seventh of 24 teams.
