High Schools: Shenendehowa girls’ volleyball beats Troy in straight sets

Emma Paliwodzinski registered 28 assists, seven digs and three aces in the Shenendehowa girls’ volleyball team’s 25-8, 25-10, 25-8 win Tuesday against Troy.

In the Suburban Council matchup, Shenendehowa’s Kasia Barletta produced 26 digs and four aces, Ryan Ennist added seven digs and four kills, and Simone Eunson contributed six kills and four aces.

Colonie defeated Bethlehem 25-13, 25-19, 25-22. Shannon Coyle led with 17 kills in the win, while teammate Gabby Martin added nine.

Arricca Silliman contributed 26 assists and six digs in Columbia’s 25-13, 25-10, 25-20 win against Ballston Spa. Allison Silliman added 19 digs in the win, while Leah Phillips registered 10 kills and Natalie Litrell had nine. For Ballston Spa, Sarah Bozzo had nine assists and Emily Robbie had five kills.

Saratoga Springs topped Shaker 25-27, 21-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-18. Gabriella Kholstinin had 31 assists in the win, while Noelle Slye had 16 kills, Grace Frania contributed 14 kills and 18 digs, and Brooke Poutre had a dozen kills. For Shaker, Layla Shipley produced 12 assists, 10 digs and eight kills, and Bri Hardwick registered 11 assists and seven kills.

Albany defeated Schenectady 25-17, 25-20, 17-25, 18-25, 25-22. For Albany, Sydney Speanburg contributed 28 assists, Nyla Barrow had 11 kills and 11 digs, and Tori Smith Wyld added nine kills. For Schenectady, Gelmajony Marrero Martinez had 15 kills and 38 digs, Kaelyn Hurd produced 26 assists and Madison Petersen had 26 digs.

Averill Park needed five sets to get past Guilderland, 20-25, 16-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-21. Lauren Hoyle had 15 digs, six kills and three aces in the loss, and teammate Emily Norgove had 24 digs and two blocks. Averill Park’s Emily Prest had 10 kills and Isabella Mahar had 11 kills.

Scotia-Glenville defeated Amsterdam 16-25, 25-10, 25-12, 25-13 in Foothills Council girls’ volleyball. Mia Wood had a dozen aces in the win, while Keeley Kristel had nine kills and seven digs.

Sophia Rogers had four aces, eight kills and three blocks as Broadalbin-Perth defeated Gloversville 25-11, 25-12, 25-19. Jackie Rattray had 12 digs for Gloversville.

In a non-league match, Galway improved to 7-0 on the season with a 20-25, 25-15, 25-21, 19-25, 25-16 victory against previously unbeaten Queensbury. Julia Reedy starred for Galway with 31 kills and 15 digs, Kylee Decker contributed 31 assists, Sophia Fasolino added 22 assists, and Trishelle Oliver produced 13 digs, eight kills and six blocks.

SCOTIA-GLENVILLE WINS
Xavier DeLuca had two goals and an assist, and Kofi Jack had a goal and two assists in Scotia-Glenville’s 4-0 Foothills Council boys’ soccer win against Gloversville.

Broadalbin-Perth registered a 14-0 win against Johnstown. Sam Rogers, Jack Dunlap, Dean Smith and Nick Bianco each had two goals in the win, while Luke Barnhart had a goal and two assists. In addition to scoring two goals, Rogers, Bianco and Smith each added an assist.

Nathan Hughes scored the game-winning goal in Ballston Spa’s 3-2 Suburban Council win against Columbia.

Brody Deal had a goal and an assist in Mayfield’s 3-1 Western Athletic conference win against OESJ. Mason Snell had OESJ’s goal, while Britain Goodemote and Christian Scunziano each added a goal for Mayfield.

KREMPA STARS
Cole Krempa scored three goals in Johnstown’s 6-0 Foothills Council field hockey win against Glens Falls. Kalena Eaton contributed a goal and an assist, and Jena Barker had two assists.

GOLF POSTPONED
The Section II Class A boys’ golf tournament at Fairways of Halfmoon was postponed until next week due to “poor course conditions,” Section II announced Tuesday.

The tournament will now take place Oct. 14.

The boys’ Class B and C/D tournaments were also postponed this week because of weather-related issues.
