Police identified them as 39-year-old Alonda Maisonette and Rudine Jones, 55, both of Schenectady.

Neither woman had signs of trauma and the Schenectady Fire Department and National Grid have ruled out carbon monoxide and radiation. However, the case remains under investigation and foul play cannot be ruled out, police said.

Detectives are waiting for the results of their toxicology reports, police said in a statement.

Officers from the Schenectady Police Department and Schenectady Fire Department responded for a report of two women who were down inside an apartment.

Upon arrival, the two women were discovered and pronounced dead at the scene. The call was received from a family member of one of the women.
