ROTTERDAM JUNCTION – A man was stabbed in Rotterdam Junction Wednesday morning and a suspect arrested, police said.
The victim was taken to Albany Medical Center with injuries police described as non-life-threatening.
Arrested was Anthony J. Florio, 58, of Ulrich Drive, Rotterdam Junction. He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, along with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon.
The incident happened at about 9 a.m. on Ulrich Drive. Police responded there for a report of a man who had been stabbed.
They arrived and encountered the victim, who relayed that he’d been in an altercation with a male friend and that the man had stabbed him during the argument, police said.
He was treated at the scene by Rotterdam EMS and taken on to the hospital, police said.
Police then made contact with the suspect, identified as Florio, by phone and convinced him to come out on his own. He was then arrested and charged.
Florio was processed and sent to the Schenectady County Jail on a pre-arraignment hold, police said.
Rotterdam Police were assisted by the Schenectady County Street Crimes Task Force, the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Department, the state police, Glenville Police, Rotterdam EMS and the Rotterdam Junction Fire Department.
