Nature Club hosts talk on Antarctic rescue

AMSTERDAM – Willie Gizara, a member of the Stratton Airbase team that flew into the Antarctic base at a time of year when no other rescue plane had taken off or landed before, will give a talk later this month on his mission to rescue Dr. Jerri Bielsen, who was suffering from breast cancer at the time.

Gizara will speak at the next meeting of the Walter Elwood Nature Club at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Inman Center, 53 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. The program is free and open to the public.
