Power project is a green disaster

Dangling millions of dollars in front of local governments, especially when some elected officials are running for re-election, is an old strategy.

Furthermore, Governor Hochul is misinformed regarding her statement that the CHPE (Champlain Hudson Power Express) is “transformative” and a “win-win.” The electricity generated by Hydro-Quebec in Labrador and far north Quebec is not zero-emission.

The tribal lands of the lnnu, the Cree, have been flooded, whole villages destroyed or relocated, and a very poisonous chemical, methylmercury, as well as methane, a potent greenhouse gas, have poisoned the northern reaches of Labrador as a result of the building of huge dams on the shores of James Bay.

The electricity that would flow through Lake Champlain and the Hudson River is not green energy, because its production is not green. Furthermore, the building of the lines on the bottom of Lake Champlain and the Hudson River is not green, nor environmentally friendly. Sturgeon habitat in the Hudson most likely will be destroyed.

The New York section of the CHPE will cost $2.2 billion to construct.

This money should be spent on local renewable and sustainable energy projects, and local, long term sustainable jobs.

Locking in this infrastructure for Canadian hydropower, which is environmentally destructive and culturally a disaster, creates a disincentive for innovative, local energy solutions.

CHPE is a greenwash. It is a climate disaster.

Take time to learn about the election

Welcome fall – hope it’s somewhat normal for us this year. So far, so good.

As for the rest of what is going on, it’s a different story. We are living in a divided world, and in strange times. Hopefully most of us can see it, along with the COVID-19 virus and others coming into our life, it is not easy to cope with. You don’t know who to really blame for most of this, the last administration we had or the new one that is in office now.

With elections coming up in many areas, now would be the time to ask, read and know more about who you are voting for.

We have to change things in our government: federal, state and local, as up to now it’s not that great.

The voters can do this and it won’t be easy, but it will change the direction our country is headed in. We need a change for the better and real fast. It can’t do any harm to look up to the sky and say “please help us” as we need help, and it may do us some good. God bless America.

All – it was a sad day yesterday – we lost a great man, a great father, grandfather – a truly fantastic American & Patriot – Colin L. Powell rest in peace and know the world is a better place because of you. If you haven’t read or listened to “My American Journey” it is awesome!!

Also worth mentioning is that “My American Journey” was co-written with local author-makes-good Joe Persico who, in addition to having a beautifully accessible writing style and having written several books of historical note, also created two inscriptions now carved into the World War II memorial in Washington.

William Aiken

Louis thanks for posting this link from Wiki. Take a look at the bigger picture, though.

Trump settled 175 times, lost 38, won 450, and had another 137 cases end with some other outcome. In the other 500 cases, judges dismissed plaintiffs’ claims against Trump.[1]

First, these two sentences provide valuable context to President Trump’s legal woes. When you run hundreds of businesses around the world and you have deep pockets, getting sued is part of doing business. He used his background in business as a blueprint for success in his presidency; domestically with the best economy, ever and in foreign policy with no new wars and brokering peace deals in the Middle East.

Second, 45 had been in the public eye for 40 years before he ran for President. There was no perception of him being a racist until he rode down the golden escalator. The establishment was shocked and terrified after he won. The media, Dems and the FBI took an ends justifies the means tactic by promoting the Russian Hoax lie, pursuing the 25th amendment along with several desperate impeachment ploys. These efforts backfired as they did more to solidify 45’s support and discredit the media as seekers of the truth.

45 has taken more slings and arrows than anyone in the history of US Presidents. He never caved to political correctness or smears of racism and made good on his policy promises. He didn’t change. He changed Washington. For this, he’ll forever be hated by both Democrats and Republicans of the DC establishment. The exact same reasons he’s beloved by his supporters.

I’ve been in the same business for 51 years. Twenty full time employees 10 subcontractors. I’ve never sued anyone and I’ve never been sued by anyone, neither personally nor through my business.

There have been 46 Presidents of United States. Some have been incompetent at times, some may not have made the best decisions, both politically and personally, but absolutely none of them can come close to the abhorrently consistent repugnant behavior of Trump. ~ The man us a scumbag, and the saddest part is that people like either don’t see that or don’t care.

Gosh, he seems so…manly.
Why do you think he didn’t accompany his followers to the Capitol on January 6th after he said he would?

William–“There was no perception of him being a racist until he rode down the golden escalator. The establishment was shocked and terrified after he won.”
SERIOUSLY? Guess you forgot about his racist, bogus Birther LIe about Obama–which Colin Powell called out. The lie/perception that Obama was not a “real” American (therefore not a legitimate president–again with Biden not being legitimate either).
Powell clearly stated that Obama was always a Christian, not a Muslim–but what difference would that make anyway.
45 will use any disgusting dirty trick in the book to get what he wants…nothing but a racist, loser, scumbag!

William Aiken

45 will use any disgusting dirty trick in the book to get what he wants

Give an example of your claim during the Trump Presidency, Jclark. If you make a charge be specific or you’re no better than the fake news media. During his term many leftist judges blocked Trump’s executive orders. He always honored their decision by following the rule of law, using the appeals process to challenge those Judges’ decisions.

Contrast Trump’s actions to Biden’s where acted like a dictator by ignoring SCOTUS ruling on ending the moratorium for landlord evictions. Biden acted unlawfully by allowing the policy to continue. How is that okay?

And isn’t it time you got past the birther bit? Nobody cares! It’s not going to be an issue in 2024. You can’t beat Trump on policy so you continue to cling to this irrelevant issue. This shows how deep your affliction is with TDS.

“45 will use any disgusting dirty trick in the book to get what he wants.”

“Give an example of your claim during the Trump Presidency”

Brainwashing imbeciles for his own personal gain, be it for money or power.

Seriously, how delusional can one be? Every court in the land ruled against Trump’s bogus election fraud claims, but he’s still out there rallying the rubes to believe the election was stolen, even though his own Ninja Turtles audit in Arizona went against him. Maybe HE should be the one who gets past the fact that he LOST! He lost the presidency, House AND Senate in only four years. Truly remarkable. If there’s one thing the former president is good at, it’s being a loser.

Constant obstruction of justice, refusing to allow his thugs to testify (even now the gall of executive privilege), pressuring those in his administration doing the right thing OUT, pressuring Ukraine with our tax dollars to smear Biden, actong like the military and the DOJ we’re HIS,there’s so many! The birther lie relates directly to your statement on race, and he later acknowledged that it was a lie, but it “worked.” He’s a scheming, corrupt, pussy grabbing insurrectionist, who inherited a growing economy, border crossings at a 50 year low, and relatively low crime. We will suffer for years because of people like you that are blind.

William Aiken

The economy began to take off in 2018 in large part due to Trump’s tax cuts that spurred investment and his executive orders ending Obama’s job killing regulations. You can’t credit Obama for growing the economy, when Trump policies were the exact opposite of his predecessor. Biden’s degrow policies are essentially the third term of Obama.

On the border, it was Biden who reflexively ended Trump’s stay in Mexico policy until the border crisis worsened to the point where he was forced to reinstated Trump’s policy.

All Trump has to do is run on his record in 2024 to draw a contrast from the nightmare that of Joe Biden. You can hyperventilate on emotional issues that have no relevance in creating jobs, getting our kids a good education or securing the public’s safety. In 2022, the GOP likely takes back the house and Senate. The next election is a referendum on Biden’s failure on these policy issues. Unfortunately for your side, Trump, his tweets and bluster won’t be on the ballad. Biden will have to run on his dismal record.

OK, so invent and inflate his so-called amazing achievements, and all the other damage he’s done goes in the “Emotional hyperventilating” folder.

Let’s see in a year from now how that defense works out. I’m betting the American people won’t buy it, nor will the courts. And I’m betting ten years from now this sad period of our existence will be taught in the schools as America’s darkest hours as one man sought to end democracy.

You just can’t face facts. Obama started in the hole with bush’s economy and dug us out with steady growth. Unemployment fell about 5 points and the stock market about tripled with 50 year low of border crossings. THAT’S what 45 inherited, yet you give him ALL the credit when that was the trend. But none of that really matters when 45 perverted and abused every norm and institution he could, made us the laughing stock, protests if him around the world, then topped it off with an insurrection. 45 could give a darn about our democratic republic, lying every day that he won. There is no arguing he was on his knees with Putin and wants that kind of democracy. Do you?

Lou Trump is no longer president. This is the Biden era of fighting climate change by making to expensive to continue old driving patterns.

Just a footnote to last post from yesterday by Annie.
FYI: those plane loads of people being flown from the border are not new. They were happening under Trump too. These are the unaccompanied minors. If you read the article, it said they are going to relatives or sponsors, some are going to facilities prepared just for this purpose. What would you suggest, just leaving them at the border where they can sleep on concrete floors?
This is from 2018.

“If you have to be persuaded, reminded, pressured, lied to, incentivized, coerced, bullied, socially shamed, guilt-tripped, threatened, punished and criminalized… If all of this is considered necessary to gain your compliance — you can be absolutely certain that what is being promoted is not in your best interest.” – Ian Watson

Biden’s mandates are being used to demonize the unvaccinated. His bullying antics won’t persuade those resistance to the jab. Regardless, he’ll double down as he always does. He used the same tactic to divide us along racial lines. Identity politics separates the people into groups, a key strategy for a Marxist takeover of governance.

Sounds like Ian Watson’s quote is exactly what trump supporters don’t understand.

Please note the Biden MANDATES you speak of have NOT been issued. What you are seeing Fred and Bill is responsible business leaders wanting to retain customers and have employees healthy to serve those customers. Wait till the cost of treating falls on business for employees who are un vaccinated and contract covid. You think they are bulling employees now wait for when that happens.
Governor here prefers to tout treatment after catching covid instead of vaccine and not getting it first place. Hence no mandates, come down Bill and Fred, just make sure you have none of the underlining conditions or you may never see NY again.

Joseph Vendetti

The individualism in todays society will lead to our downfall. First idiots defying science and not getting vaccinated, 2nd young people walking out of school in protest of block scheduling.

I don’t understand this defiance attitude! Just do what you are told for the greater good. All my kids are vaccinated and all did block scheduling.

Mr. Vendetti, I agree let’s follow the science. What about natural immunity? Why isn’t the government releasing the data on natural immunity? That’s following the science.

We’ve seen this movie, haven’t we?
And I’ll repeat my question: “Or is it more important to recite your well-worn grievance points?”

. . . . . . . .
October 13th, 2021

Richard W. Lewis, Jr. I’m kind of curious why the government doesn’t release the data on natural immunity we’re every study I’ve seen out of Israel says that natural immunity is better immunity than the vaccination.

Dearest Zachary. Will you need that information served to you on a fine silver platter? Or do you think you could find your way to the CDC website and find it yourself? I found it on my first search. You can too.
Or is it more important to recite your well-worn grievance points?
