Early voting begins Saturday; sites listed in Schenectady County

Schenectady County residents can begin casting votes for this year’s election starting Saturday. 

The county is reminding residents that early voting is running from Saturday until Oct. 31 at four locations, according to a press release. 

“Early voting is the same as voting on Election Day,” the release states.

Early voting hours are:

  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23
  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24
  • Noon to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26
  • Noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28
  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29
  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30
  • 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31

The locations are: 

  • Hon. Karen B. Johnson Library Central Branch, 99 Clinton St., Schenectady
  • Niskayuna Town Hall, 1 Niskayuna Circle, Niskayuna
  • Glenville Senior Center, 32 Worden Road, Glenville
  • South Schenectady Fire Department, 6 Old Mariaville Road, Rotterdam

Hours for absentee voting have been extended at the Board of Elections office at 2696 Hamburg St., Schenectady. 

They are now: 

  • 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 19, 21, 25 and 27
  • 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 23 and 30

The Capital District Transportation Authority is also providing trolley transportation to the Schenectady city location.

“A trolley will circulate to the bus stops along Union Street, Nott Terrace, State Street and Clinton Street for drop-off at the library,” the release states.

The trolley will run 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays; noon to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 

COVID protocols will be in place. People are asked to wear a mask if they medically can and practice social distancing.

People are also able to drop off absentee ballots at any of the early voting and Election Day polling sites or the Board of Elections office during operational hours. 

People voting early may not vote on Election Day.
