ALBANY COUNTY – A Schenectady woman has been arrested, accused of stealing more than $300,000 from her employer in Albany County, state police said Thursday.
Aurilla Vandervort, 55, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count each of second-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, felonies.
Records indicate she was arrested Wednesday morning in Colonie. The investigation began in September 2020.
She is accused of stealing the money from the business while employed as a leasing agent, state police said.
The alleged scheme involved Vandervort renting directly to customers and failing to turn over the money to her employer, state police said.
Vandervort was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and released to return to court later. The case was then transferred up to Albany County Court.
