
Broadalbin-Perth scored a 3-0 win Friday in the Section II Class B boys’ soccer quarterfinals against Schalmont. Sam Rogers scored each goal for Broadalbin-Perth, while Nick Bianco and Alex Rogers each had an assist.
Niskayuna defeated Saratoga Springs 3-0 in the Section II Class AA quarterfinals. Matt Stiles scored two goals and Papa Ndiaye made five saves in the shutout.
Shenendehowa advanced past Albany with a 2-1 win. Each of the game’s goals were scored in the final 11 minutes, and Lochlain Clarke scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Max Sheehan with 90 seconds to play in regulation.
Sa Kler Moo had a goal and an assist in Albany Academy’s 2-1 double-overtime win against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in the Section II Class A quarterfinals. Finn Conway scored the game-winning goal.
In a Section II Class D quarterfinal, OESJ received two goals from Andrew Snell in a 4-0 win against North Warren.
BLESI LIFTS BH-BL
Ella Blesi scored both goals for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in its 2-1 win against Scotia-Glenville in the Section II Class A girls’ soccer tournament quarterfinals. Sage Luke scored Scotia-Glenville’s goal. Amelia Caraldi made seven saves in victory and Kortney Clark made seven saves in defeat.
Courtney Bush, Hannah Bachorik, Matti Swan, and Sarah Leclerc each scored in Mohonasen’s 4-3 double-overtime win against South Glens Falls. Leclerc had the game-winning goal. Bush also had two assists, while Leclerc and Olivia Andriola each had an assist. For South Glens Falls, Vanessa Jorgensen scored two goals.
Merry Gaylord scored two goals in Averill Park’s 4-0 win against Lansingburgh. Michelina Lombardi made four saves in the shutout.
Queensbury topped Amsterdam 8-2 in a Section II Class A girls’ soccer tournament quarterfinals. Brigid Duffy had three goals and an assist, while teammate Bayley Duffy had two goals and an assist. For Amsterdam, Anne Stanavich and Madisyn Meca each scored a goal.
PATENAUDE LEADS STILLWATER
In a Section II Class C girls’ soccer tournament first-round game, Stillwater defeated Galway 2-0. Elliott Patenaude scored both goals for Stillwater, while Mia Corraro made four saves in the shutout. Hannah French made 15 saves for Galway.
Schoharie won 8-0 against Hadley-Luzerne. Katie Krohn scored four goals, and Haley Drinon registered two goals and an assist. For Hadley-Luzerne, Madison Lent made 21 saves.
Alayna Fletcher had a goal and two assists in Maple Hill’s 3-1 win against Cambridge.
Addyson Galuski had two goals, Cassidy McClement had a goal and an assist, and Imani Bloomfield scored a goal in Waterford-Halfmoon’s 4-0 win against Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

SHAKER ROLLS
Shaker rolled to a 42-0 Section Class AA football win against Bethlehem. Kyle Yusuf scored two touchdowns. Shaker improved to 7-0 on the season.
Guilderland topped CBA 17-7 in a Section II Class AA game. Ty Santabarbara rushed for one touchdown and passed for another in the victory. The teams were tied 7-7 heading into the fourth quarter.
David Romer scored four touchdowns in Columbia’s 24-6 Section II Class A win against Troy.
In a Section II Class A game that saw multiple touchdowns scored in each quarter, Queensbury topped Ballston Spa 41-32. Zion Freeman scored four touchdowns for Queensbury and rushed for 247 yards, while Ballston Spa’s Darrien Insogna rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Ballston Spa led 14-7 after one quarter, but Queensbury scored 14 unanswered points in the second quarter and never trailed from there despite Ballston Spa trimming the Spartans’ lead to three points or fewer on three occasions in the second half.
Giovanni DiCaprio and Owen Hicks each scored two touchdowns in Fonda-Fultonville’s 47-0 Section II Class C win against Mechanicville. One of DiCaprio’s touchdowns was on a 91-yard rush, while one of Hicks’ was on a 63-yard interception return. DiCaprio rushed for a game-high 127 yards, while Connor Weaver passed for a touchdown and had a receiving score.
The Johnstown football team lost 27-14 against Cobleskill-Richmondville in a Section II Class C matchup at Knox Field.
In a Section II Class D matchup, Helderberg Valley won 20-0 against Cohoes. Tyler Busch rushed for two touchdowns.
SHENENDEHOWA WINS THRILLER
In a five-set Suburban Council boys’ volleyball match, Shenendehowa defeated Columbia 17-25, 26-24, 25-13, 22-25, 15-12. Nick Barrese led the Plainsmen with 35 assists, while Cade Bernardi had 16 digs, Nick Pascual contributed 14 kills and Bennett Wilson added 11 kills. For Columbia, Jeremy Garrigan had 40 assists, Carter Durivage had 18 kills and Henry Heeps contributed a dozen kills.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake defeated Colonie 25-20, 25-16, 25-19. Aidan Calhoun led the Spartans with 26 assists, while Gavin Sweet had 21 digs, Liam Calhoun contributed 11 kills, Ben Pearce added eight kills and Harrison Keena had seven kills.
MECHANICVILLE WINS IN 5 SETS
Mechanicville topped Saratoga Catholic 25-14, 21-25, 25-21, 24-26, 25-22 in a Wasaren League girls’ volleyball matchup. Hailie Phelps had 11 kills, Jenna Tesoriero contributed 17 assists and Makayla Blake produced six kills in the win. For Saratoga Catholic, Jacqueline Fornabia had eight kills.
Waterford-Halfmoon topped Cambridge 25-10, 25-17, 25-14. In the win, Kiley Pennick had seven kills, and Skyler Kennedy had nine assists. For Cambridge, Maddie Phillips had five assists.
In a meeting of Foothills Council rivals, the Gloversville girls’ volleyball team secured a 25-5, 23-25, 25-8, 25-11 win Friday against Amsterdam. For Gloversville, Allie Salvione had 18 assists, Zoie Tesi had 11 kills and Jackie Rattray had 10 digs.
Scotia-Glenville defeated Johnstown 25-21, 25-20, 25-23. In the win, Grace Letterman led with 12 assists and eight aces, while Mia Wood added a dozen assists. For Johnstown, Teianna Frasier had 10 assists, eight aces and seven digs, while Camille Gray contributed four digs.
COLUMBIA SWEEPS TEAM TITLES
The Columbia boys’ and girls’ cross country programs won team titles at the Rensselaer County Meet at Grafton Lakes State Park. Gitch Hayes of La Salle won the boys’ individual title with a mark of 14:13.03 for the 2.7-mile course, while Shea Fajen of Columbia won the girls’ race in 17:25.22. Columbia’s Nathan Davis and Jacob Yannone came in second and third place, respectively, in the boys’ race, while Hoosic Valley’s Sophia Squires finished in second place in the girls’ race and Averill Park’s Logan Barsalow took third.

At the Albany County Meet at The Crossings of Colonie, Shaker’s Leonni Griffin won the girls’ race with a time of 14:53.18 for the 2.5-mile course and Guilderland’s Finn Burke won the boys’ race in 13:08.00.
The team championships at the event belonged to the Bethlehem girls’ team and the Guilderland boys’ team.
