Threat made against Oneida Middle School students, faculty in Schenectady

Schenectady City Police is investigating a shooting threat against students and faculty at Oneida Middle School circulating on social media.

“Detectives from our Youth Aid Bureau are actively investigating this threat and it is being taken very seriously,” police said in a release on its Facebook page.

The release also posted the message that is being sent around.

The message refers to multiple people entering Oneida Middle School, although no date is specified, and shooting 15 administrators and 40 to 50 kids on every floor of the building.

“Any kids we see theyre [sic] getting shot,” the message states.

The school district posted about the threat on its Twitter page, noting it was also being investigated by state police.

“We have notified our families that we are aware of the threat and that law enforcement is investigating and that we will provide more [information] when we have details and an update from the police,” said Karen Corona, the district’s public information specialist.
