ROCHESTER — After a week off, the Union football team was back to business as usual on Saturday, rolling to a 35-9 Liberty League road victory over Rochester.
The Dutchmen (4-0 Liberty League, 7-0 overall) scored touchdowns on each of their first five offensive possessions at Fauver Stadium in cruising to the victory. Union has put up at least 30 points in all seven games this season, and Saturday’s win was the team’s fifth by at least 20 points.
Union was balanced and efficient on offense, piling up 454 yards with an almost even split between rushing (231 yards) and passing (223 yards). Quarterback William Bellamy was 18 of 22 through the air, tossing touchdown passes to Andre Ross Jr. and Finn Duran, with Ross posting six catches for 86 yards to lead all receivers.
Ike Irabor led Union’s ground attack with 86 yards, including a pair of first-quarter touchdowns.
Union’s defense held Rochester (1-3, 2-5) to just 132 yards, most of that coming once the game was well out of reach.
The Dutchmen will be back at home next Saturday against Hobart for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
