Niskayuna Police: Burglary suspect injures town officer Monday morning at Blatnick Park

NISKAYUNA – A burglary suspect injured a town officer Monday morning at Blatnick Park, authorities said.

The officer suffered a cut and bruising around the face as a result, according to allegations filed in court. Further information on the officer’s injuries was not immediately available.

Arrested was Kyle Bellick, 21, residence unavailable. Bellick faces one count each of second-degree assault and second-degree burglary, felonies, according to the allegations.

Bellick is accused of first illegally entering the attached garage of a residence in Niskayuna with the intent to commit a crime, just before 10 a.m., according to the allegations.

Shortly afterward, an officer encountered Bellick at Blatnick Park, in the area of River Road and Line Drive, according to the allegations.

The officer was investigating the burglary at the time and Bellick is accused of physically fighting with the officer, according to the allegations.

Bellick was due to be arraigned on the charges Monday evening, officials said.
