There were some interesting results involving ECAC Hockey teams last weekend.

Clarkson took it to Harvard, which was ranked 10th in the USCHO.com/NCAA hockey poll, last Friday in Potsdam with a 6-2 win. Union looked impressive last Saturday in a 2-0 win at Colgate, a place where the Dutchmen have always struggled.

But the shocker was the RPI-Cornell contest last Saturday. The Big Red crushed the Engineers 11-3. When I saw that score, I was flabbergasted. It had not been since the 1997-98 season since RPI allowed double digits in goals in a game.

Just about all the players in the Daily Gazette’s ECAC Hockey Faceoff Selections did well in Week 6. The best record was 9-2-2, and five players posted that. They were Kevin Sokolski, Jim Kalohn, Achilles 3-7-5, Dan Dickinson and Togany.

I was 7-4-2.

The race for first place is tight. Ryan Fay has a two-point lead over Brian Unger and four over Sokolski.

Here is a look the standings, with Week 6 records in parentheses:

Ryan Fay 46-18-10 102 points (7-4-2)

Brian Unger 45-19-10 100 points (8-3-2)

Kevin Sokolski 44-20-10 98 points (9-2-2)

On a side note, in going through my emails, I discovered that Union Bob sent his Week 3 picks to me, the first week he did so, and I missed it. The picks were in on time. Therefore, his record now reflects his Week 3 picks. Union Bob went 5-5.
