SARATOGA COUNTY – After last year’s program was modified because of the coronavirus pandemic, an anti-poverty agency will have a bigger complement of community partners this weekend to distribute more than 1,200 food baskets to help feed upward of 5,500 people for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving baskets will be distributed at four Saratoga County locations as part of LifeWorks Community Action’s annual program.

The venues are:

  • Ballston Spa National Bank’s corporate office, 990 Route 67, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Organizers recommend showing up between 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.
  • Harvest Church, 303 Grooms Road, Clifton Park, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, with organizers recommending getting there from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Corinth Elementary School, 356 Center St., with distribution by the Salvation Army and the Corinth Central School District from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The recommended times are 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.
  • Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church at 24 Circular St., Saratoga Springs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Recommended times are 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The community’s need is greater than ever during the second year of the pandemic, LifeWorks said in a statement.

Because of the pandemic, Quad Graphics’ distribution center was employed to distribute baskets last year.

This year, Quad Graphics is joined by the aforementioned community partners, as well as food donations from the regional food bank and Aldi, produce from Goose Island Farms, and gift cards from Hannaford and Stewart’s.

The Thanksgiving distribution has been in existence for more than 20 years, LifeWorks spokeswoman Elena Grande said.

LifeWorks Community Action also has an emergency food pantry, daily soup kitchen, mobile food pantry, Weatherization, WIC and Head Start programs.
