High schools: Schoharie girls’ basketball tops Germantown

Chloe Towle scored 18 points to lead the Schoharie girls’ basketball team to a 62-36 victory over Germantown in the opening round of the Schoharie Tournament on Friday.

Jesse Meade finished with 17 points for the Indians, while Julie Lehoe added 15 points.

Katie Bathrick scored 13 points to lead Germantown.

In the other first-round contest, Joleen Lusk scored 18 points to lead Cherry Valley-Springfield to a 64-28 victory over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.
Angie Dietz scored 18 points to lead the Golden Knights.

Schoharie (1-0 overall) will face Cherry Valley-Springfield in Saturday’s championship game at noon. Germantown will face Bishop Gibbons in the 10 a.m. consolation game.

In the Rusty Grestini Tournament at Cohoes, the host Tigers posted a 45-39 victory over Bishop Maginn in a first-round contest.

Quincy Hytko scored 18 points to lead Cohoes, while Anasia Bristow finished with 17 points to pace Bishop Maginn.

In the other first-round game, Lansingburgh posted a 54-28 victory over Mekeel Christian Academy.

Tyina Thomas scored 21 points to lead the Knights, while Taylor Johnson added 14 points.

Promise Mitchell scored 13 points to lead Mekeel Christian.

Lansingburgh will face Cohoes in Saturday’s championship game at 6:30 p.m., Mekeel Christian will meet Bishop Maginn in the consolation game at 5 p.m.

GALWAY TOPS CORINTH
Casey Clarke finished with 14 points to lead the Galway boys’ basketball team to a 58-23 victory over Corinth in the opening round of the Mike Beson Tournament at Saratoga Catholic.

Myles Pleasants added 13 points and five steals for the Golden Eagles, while Josh Lovelass had nine steals and eight assists.

David White scored 10 points to lead Corinth.

The Golden Eagles will face host Saratoga Catholic in Saturday’s championship game at 6 p.m.

Connor Chilson scored 20 points to lead Salem to a 49-42 victory over Heatly in the first round of the Waterford Tip-Off Tournament.

GREENWICH LOSES IN STATE SEMIFINALS
Moriah scored three times in the third quarter on its way to a 28-14 victory over Greenwich in the state Class D semifinals at Middletown’s Faller Field.

Jesse Kuzmich scored on a 6-yard touchdown run for the Witches and he also threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Deontae Bennett.

Rowan Swan scored on an 81-yard run for Moriah and threw touchdown passes to Bryce Sprague and Riley Demarais. Caleb Harris added a 2-yard touchdown run for the Vikings.

Section II Class D champion Greenwich ends its season at 11-1.

BETHLEHEM HOCKEY DROPS OPENER

Matt Montoni scored both goals to lead Mamaroneck to a 2-0 non-league boys’ ice hockey win over Bethlehem at the Bethlehem Area YMCA.

Dominick Spychalski had a goal and two assists to lift Canandaigua Academy to a 3-1 victory over Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa.
