Police: Schenectady man broke into a woman’s residence, cut her with glass shard


SCHENECTADY – A city man broke into a woman’s residence recently and cut her with a shard of glass in an incident police termed a domestic, authorities said.

Anthony Candelaria, 23, Main Street, was arrested Nov. 20 and charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree assault, felonies, according to allegations filed in court.

Candelaria is accused of breaking into the woman’s residence late on Nov. 19, breaking a window. While inside, he cut the woman with a piece of broken glass, injuring her, according to the allegations.

Candelaria is also accused of waiving a broken piece of glass at the woman, threatening to hit her, according to the allegations.

Candelaria also faces one count of second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanors.

Candelaria was arraigned and ordered held on $1,000 bail, which he has since posted, officials said.
