Lucia Bouchard sank seven 3-point baskets, and Gloversville rallied in the second half to edge Mekeel Christian Academy 44-43 in a girls’ non-league basketball game Monday.
Gloversville trailed by eight points at the half and was down by as many as 19 in the third quarter. Bouchard scored 22 points including a free throw that put Gloversville up by one in the final seconds, and Zoie Tesi finished with 12.
Promise Mitchell paced Mekeel with 18 points, Alanah Barnhill contributed nine, and Moon Taylor added seven.
Steven Hulbert rolled a 564 triple and Mick Winton had a 561 to lead Johnstown past Broadalbin-Perth 3-1 in a boys’ Foothills Council bowling match. Johnstown collected 2,936 points to Broadalbin-Perth’s 2,907. Jake Pavone had a 618 triple for the Patriots.
Scotia-Glenville knocked down 3,056 pins and posted a 4-0 win over Gloversville as Josh Allen delivered a 603, and was backed by Savannah Swiatocha’s 520 and Logan Heins’ 502. Tyler Earley and Devin Butcher led Gloversville with a 580 and 511, respectively, and the Dragons totaled 2,632 pins in all.
COUGARS ROLL PAST BULLDOGS
Canajoharie swept Berne-Knox-Westerlo 4-0 in a Western Athletic Conference bowling match, with Henry Yerdon turning in a 607, Tanner Ackernecht rolling a 588, and Derek Mureness recording a 577 for the Cougars. Sam Lawler had a 499 for the Bulldogs, who had a team score of 2,011. Canajoharie knocked down 2,731 pins.
Canajoharie had 1,948 pins to Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s 1,915, and the Cougars won 3-1 in a WAC girls’ match. Maura DiMezza topped Canajoharie with a 459, and Katie Morseman led the Bulldogs with a 455.
In a Colonial Council girls’ bowling matchup, Mohonasen secured a 24-8 win against Schalmont. Gia Fowler had the match’s high series with a 614, while Kianna Macapinlac registered a 592.
