Colgate hands Siena women’s basketball team its seventh straight loss

Siena women’s basketball player Margo Peterson scored 14 points in the Saints' 56-54 loss to Colgate on Thursday.

LOUDONVILLE — Tiasia McMillan scored 13 points, and Colgate held on to beat Siena 56-54 in a women’s college basketball non-conference game at UHY Center.

It was the seventh straight loss to start the season for the Saints.

Siena led 18-13 after one quarter. But Colgate (2-5) outscored the Saints 36-24 over the next two quarters to take a 49-42 lead.

The Saints pulled to with one on a free throw by Margo Peterson with 18 seconds left in the game. Morgan Frank made one of two free throws with 13 seconds left.

Siena had a final chance to tie it. Selena Philoxy missed a jumper in the paint with eight seconds left. Imani Harris got the offensive rebound, but the

Saints were unable to get another shot off.

Peterson led the Saints with 14 points. Rayshel Brown added 12 points, and Amari Anthony had 11 points.

The Saints return to action Dec. 12 at UAlbany.
