High schools: Mayfield, Northville, OESJ boys’ basketball win at WAC Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Classic

On the final day of the Western Athletic Conference Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Classic boys’ basketball event at Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Mayfield notched a 53-51 win over Madrid-Waddington.

OESJ powered to a 77-47 win over Salem at FMCC behind 25 points from Colten Christensen and 22 from Mason Snell. OESJ also got 14 points from Owen Feagles.

Wrapping up the action at FMCC, Northville defeated Sharon Springs 67-34 as Daniel VanNostrand scored 17 points, Jacob Frank scored 16 and Evan Tamulaitis scored 10 for the Falcons. Northville led by eight points at the half, but outscored Sharon Springs 38-13 in the second half.

Saratoga Springs fell 6-2 to Section VI’s Williamsville North in a non-league ice hockey game at Weibel Avenue Rink. Payton Borak and Matt Rissetto each scored for Saratoga Springs, which led 2-1 after the first period only for Williamsville North to close the game with five unanswered goals. Blue Streaks goalie Ryan McNeil made 29 saves.

CBA lost 3-1 to Oswego, with the Brothers getting a third-period goal from Jake Hammond and 13 saves from goaltender Joe Shannahan.
