
SCHENECTADY — Nine people were evacuated from a burning home on Maplewood Avenue Sunday morning.
City firefighters responded to a fire at 876 Maplewood Ave. at around 5:30 a.m.
Seven children, two adults and a family dog were evacuated from the home, according to Assistant Fire Chief Don Mareno.

The fire, which is still under investigation, was under control in about 40 minutes and was extinguished within an hour.
Mareno said the fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
