ALBANY – A Schenectady woman was sentenced to time served, about three months, in connection with a defaced firearm and heroin distribution, federal prosecutors said.

Nakia Barber, 46, of Schenectady, pleaded guilty previously to unlawfully possessing a defaced .22 caliber pistol and possessing and distributing heroin on a date in October 2018, officials said.

She has been in custody on unrelated state charges since September 2020.

The case was investigated by the ATF and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander P. Wentworth-Ping.
