Das Nobel, a member of Siena College’s Class of 2006, announces a $35 million gift to the College on behalf of he and his wife, Nipa, a trustee at the college, in Loudonville on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021.

Siena College on Tuesday announced the largest single donation in the college’s 84-year history – $35 million for the expansion of the school’s science complex.

Co-founders of the MTX group, Das and Nipa Nobel, have pledged the funds to build Nobel Hall and to renovate Roger Bacon Hall. Das Nobel is a 2006 graduate of the college.

“The foundation I received at Siena College enabled us to give back to my alma mater in a way that will impact new generations of leaders. I am proud to be a Siena alumnus and hope this contribution will inspire current and future students to dream big,” said Das Nobel, CEO and founder of MTX. “The expansion of the College’s science complex and the building of Nobel Hall will inspire students to collaborate and make their dreams a reality, just as I did.”

Nobel earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science studying algorithmic analysis and software engineering. His wife, Nipa, serves on the board of trustees for the college.

“Das Nobel is a shining example of what a Siena College graduate can achieve when he or she dreams big. His career achievements are impressive by any standard, but it is the dedication that he and his wife, Nipa, show to MTX’s employees through their people-first approach to business, and to the community through the Nobel Foundation, that illustrates what it truly means to be a Siena Saint. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity, which will transform the way Siena prepares our students for their own careers,” said Siena President Chris Gibson.
