High schools: DiCaterino leads Broadalbin-Perth boys’ basketball over Schalmont


Mariano DiCaterino scored 21 points, and made a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left in the game Sunday as Broadalbin-Perth rallied to beat Schalmont 48-45 in the Coaches vs. Cancer Bracket Buster boys’ basketball game at Hudson Valley Community College.

DiCaterino scored 15 points in the fourth quarter as the Patriots outscored the Sabres 22-11 to erase a 35-26 third-quarter deficit.

Michael Magliocca added 12 points for Broadalbin-Perth.

Isaiah Smith led Schalmont with 13 points. Sean Willis had 11 points for the Sabres, and Max Pratt chipped in with 10.

In other games from the Bracket Buster, Daniel Coiteux scored 21 points in Averill Park’s 49-44 victory over Saratoga Springs. Zach Carpenter led the Blue Streaks with 13 points, Ethan Straughter had 12 and Dillon Waite added 11.

Bryce Jones scored seven of his 10 points in the fourth quarter to help Voorheesville rally past Hoosic Valley 54-53. Voorheesville trailed 41-40 entering the final period.

Carson Carrow led Voorheesville with 15 points, and Jack Barringer added 10. Logan Reilly led Hoosic Valley with 30 points.

Mason Snell’s 21 points sparked OESJ to a 65-41 victory over Galway. Paetyn Logan-Dillenbeck added 17 points.

Alex Schmidt score 26 points, and Brett Richards added a double–double with 22 points and 12 rebounds as Ichabod Crane defeated Taconic Hills 80-62.
