High schools: DiCarlo leads Amsterdam girls’ basketball past Schuylerville


Ashley DiCarlo scored 14 points as Amsterdam held off Schuylerville 51-47 on Thursday in a Foothills Council girls’ basketball game that was close all the way.

Amsterdam led 27-21 at halftime, but Schuylerville used a 15-10 third quarter to cut it to 37-36 heading into the fourth quarter.

Macey Koval scored 21 points for Schuylerville.

Queensbury defeated Johnstown 57-36 behind 20 points from Kendra Ballard and 15 from Brigid Duffy.

Jayden Wilson scored 26 points for Johnstown.

Mairead Marsden scored 12 points to lead Broadalbin-Perth to a 55-32 victory over Scotia-Glenville.

Emma Goebel, Julia Mycelium and Haleigh Hayes each added nine points to the balanced B-P offense.

Karaline McCarthy scored 12 points for Scotia.

Carolina Williams scored 24 points to lead Ichabod Crane to a 49-21 victory over Cobleskill-Richmondville. Ichabod Crane improved to 7-2 in the Colonial and 9-3 overall.


Quin Barton scored 14 points to lead Schoharie to a 45-32 victory over Middleburgh in Western Athletic Conference boys’ basketball.

Gage Calistri scored 10 points for Middleburgh.


Schalmont rolled to a 27-5 victory over La Salle, as Nick Phillips bowled a 205-579 for the Sabres. Zach Bombard had a 220-578 for the Cadets.

In the Suburban Council, Colonie topped Saratoga Springs 24-8 despite a 269-727 from the Blue Streaks’ Brady Jennings.

Aiden Deitz led the Garnet Raiders (3,621) with a 239-685.

Averill Park defeated Bethlehem 27-5, as Joe Kellar (675), Joe Minehan (625) and Mike Angrisano (602) reached the 600 mark for Averill Park.

Cody Martin had a 623 for Bethlehem.

CBA topped Albany 21.5-10.5, as Tom Scholz had a 655 triple for the Brothers and Angelo Galofare had a 268 single.

Michael McNeil bowled a 258-728 for Albany.

Hoosick Falls (3,566 total pins) blanked Stillwater 5-0, led by Colin King with a 257-727. Adam Wickham had a 224-622 for Stillwater.

In a Suburban Council girls’ bowling match, Columbia defeated Colonie 25-7, as Annie Motler had a 244-647 for the Blue Devils. Amy Chrzanowski led Colonie with a 210-568.


It came down to the wire, but Ballston Spa held off Hudson Falls/South Glens Falls 91-87 in a non-league boys’ swimming match.

Ryan Otten won the 100 butterfly (58.65) to get Ballston Spa within 46-41, then took the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.62 to give the Scotties an 85-79 lead with just the 400 free relay left. Second place in that event was enough for Ballston Spa to hold on for the team win.

Owen Kearney doubled in the 50 free (26.51) and 100 free (1:01.65) for Ballston Spa.

In the Foothills Council, Queensbury defeated Fonda/Johnstown 88-68.

Vincent Rizzo won the 200 free in 2:08.87 and the 100 free in 54.69 for F/J, and DJ Long doubled in the 50 free (25.68) and 100 backstroke (1:09.00).


Cobleskill-Richmondville got past Greenville in four sets in Patroon Conference boys’ volleyball, as Kole Wayman had six kills and 23 service points for Cobleskill.

Lorenzo Harri had 20 assists for Cobleskill, and Dylan Becker had nine kills and four blocks.


Jace Rehburg (172), Masen Cooper (285), John Oldorff (126) and Dominic Scolaro (132) recorded pins as Cobleskill-Richmondville shut out Ichabod Crane 66-0.
