Shenendehowa High School senior standout Mason Courtney announced Wednesday with a social-media post that he’ll join the Siena men’s basketball roster for next season.

“I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates and the Shen community for helping me get to where I am today,” Courtney tweeted Wednesday evening. “Also, I would like to thank the Siena coaching staff for believing in me. I am excited to continue my academic and athletic career at Siena College. #GoSaints.”

A 6-foot-4 guard, Courtney will be a walk-on at Siena. One of the top players this winter in the Suburban Council, Courtney also was a standout player this past fall with Shenendehowa’s football team as a quarterback.

At Siena, Courtney will play for head coach Carmen Maciariello who graduated from Shenendehowa in 1996. Also on Siena’s coaching staff is Matt Miner, a 2010 Shenendehowa graduate who serves as the Saints’ director of basketball operations.
