
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — After shooting well in the second quarter against Saint Peter’s on Thursday night, the Siena women’s basketball team had a rough third quarter.
The Saints shot just 2 of 14 (14.29%) in the third quarter and were outscored 20-9 in a 70-59 MAAC loss at Yanitelli Center.
It was the third straight loss for the Saints (6-7 MAAC, 6-15 overall). They are 1-5 since their five-game winning streak ended.
Saint Peter’s (6-6, 9-12) had a 57-35 lead after the third quarter.
Siena was 8 for 13 (61.54%) in the second quarter and were down 37-36 at halftime.
Kendra Williams led four Saint Peter’s scorers in double figure scoring with 19 points. Kourtney Crane added 13 points, Kassondra Brown had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Tyara McQueen had 10 points.
Margo Peterson led Siena with 24 points. She was 7 for 14 from the field and 9 for 10 from the foul line.
Selena Philoxy had 12 points, and Valencia Fontenelle-Posson added 10 points.
Siena visits MAAC-leading Fairfield at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
