
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Siena women’s basketball team managed to beat Fairfield on Jan. 22.
No one else in the MAAC has found a way to do that this season, and now the only team to have beaten the Stags is also Fairfield’s most recently vanquished opponent.
Fairfield defeated Siena 64-58 at Webster Bank Arena on Saturday and continues to run away with the conference, improving to 14-1 in the MAAC and 17-6 overall.
Siena (6-8, 6-16) trailed by just 33-28 at halftime, but Fairfield extended it to 50-39 through three quarters and led by as much as 15 in the fourth before getting cold from the field late.
The Stags didn’t score a field goal in the final 4:18 of the game.
Margo Peterson led Siena, which has lost four straight, with 17 points. Selena Philoxy, who had 20 points, 12 rebounds and six assists against Fairfield on Jan. 22, scored 11 on Saturday.
Lou Lopez-Senechal scored 21 points for the Stags.
