School basketball: Graber guides Schalmont girls to win

Payton Graber led the Schalmont girls’ basketball team to a Colonial Council win Tuesday against Voorheesville.

Graber scored a game-high 24 points in Schalmont’s 60-18 victory. Graber had 14 of her points during Schalmont’s 28-2 first quarter.

Also for the Sabres, Haley Burchhardt had 11 points, Karissa Antoine scored nine and Mikaela Frank contributed seven.

Albany Academy won 63-55 against Holy Names. Saige Randolph had 19 points in the win, while Morgan Vien scored 18 and Bella Vincent produced 13. Holy Names’ Sophia Bologna and Ryan Carroll each scored 18 points.

Fonda-Fultonville won 53-37 against Mayfield in a Western Athletic Conference crossover game. Kieonna Christmas had 15 points in the win, while Marilyn Whitcavitch added 14 and Carly Atty scored 11. For Mayfield, Kelsey Meca had a team-high 13 points, and Cloey Dopp and Brooke Iannuzzi each scored 10. Fonda-Fultonville led 25-21 at halftime.

Shaker won 51-47 against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in a Suburban Council game. Kaelah Carter scored 13 points to lead Shaker, which also received 11 from Jamie Martino. Callie Chevalier led BH-BL with 17 points.

Schuylerville won 47-37 against Scotia-Glenville in Foothills Council play. For Schuylerville, Macey Koval had 15 points and Amanda Pflieger produced a dozen. Tori Nardini scored 12 points for Scotia-Glenville.

In a Wasaren League game, Stasia Epler scored 13 points, Schuylar Nolan had 11 and Sammi Crandall added 10 to lead Cambridge to a 54-15 win against Stillwater.

In a non-league game, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk’s Hannah VanDerzee scored 32 points in a 68-39 win against Bishop Maginn.

Tanavia Turpin and Brenna Graber each had 11 points, and Delaney Pratt added 10, in Catholic Central’s 51-30 win against Emma Willard.

Saratoga Catholic won 58-43 against Canajoharie. Ashley Upson had 24 points in the win. For Canajoharie, Kaijah Fowler had 14 points.


In a non-league boys’ basketball game, Keyshuan Tillery scored 29 points to lead Albany Academy to a 73-66 win against Albany. Shamiere Green added 25 points. For Albany, Isaiah Austin scored a game-high 32 points.

OESJ outlasted Herkimer 52-51. OESJ outscored Herkimer 18-10 in the fourth quarter. Mason Snell scored 19 points in the win and Owen Feagles added 15.

Waterford-Halfmoon received 26 points and 15 rebounds from Gavin Bodah in a 72-37 win against Hawthorne Valley. In the win, Howard Phelan contributed 19 points and six assists.

Darien Moore had 21 points in Catholic Central’s 69-56 win against Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons and Seimir Roberson added 17. For ND-BG, Esiasyn Starr produced 21 points.

Guilderland topped Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 49-47 in a Suburban Council game. Mitchell MacKissock’s 23 points led Guilderland, while Liam Teague had 19. Alex Doin had 13 points for BH-BL and Luke Haluska scored 10. Guilderland led 27-21 at halftime and 41-36 after three quarters.

Bethlehem topped Ballston Spa 67-64. Bethlehem led 19-8 after one quarter, but Ballston Spa had a 28-27 halftime lead and the teams were tied at 44 heading into the fourth. Bethlehem’s Ali Weatherly had 26 points, while Nicholas Verdile had a game-high 29 points for Ballston Spa.

James Collar scored 22 points in Gloversville’s 50-38 Foothills Council win against Scotia-Glenville. Giorgio Glionna had 15 points and eight rebounds in the win, and Anthony Gray added 10 points. For Scotia-Glenville, Ben Kline scored 10 points. Gloversville led 30-27 before posting a 20-11 fourth quarter.

Ceasar Thompson finished with 29 points to help Amsterdam to a 76-71 victory over Johnstown in a Foothills Council contest.

Victor Dueno had 14 points for the Rams and Jhai Vellon added 13. Braden Jones scored 23 points to lead Johnstown and Steven VanNostrand added 16.

Broadalbin-Perth rolled to a 75-47 win against South Glens Falls. Sam Rogers scored 17 points in the victory, while Michael Magliocca and Ryan Savoie each had 14. Orion Delisle scored a dozen points for South Glens Falls. Broadalbin-Perth led 34-14 at halftime and scored 22 points in each of the game’s middle quarters.

Schuylerville won 56-52 against Queensbury. Owen Sherman had 25 points to lead Schuylerville and Luke Sherman added 17.
